Well it sounds like he is here to be a defensive centre. No second row talk in that article.

Has always struggled with his defence all through the grades, and will need to get much quicker.

Slow and can't tackle ? We've already got centres with those qualities.

Let’s wait and see, might be ok but if not then hopefully others will step up. Don’t know why we would sign a defensive centre that can’t tackle and is slow, I will keep an open mind. Surely McKinnon and Obi have checked the new signings out before pen to paper.

You know the rule here Frank. Crucify 'em as soon as they sign! Don't give 'em a fair go.

We needed outside backs and now we have them, wouldn't expect any new signings for 2020 now.

2021 will be different lot of players coming off contract this year.

Interesting that Shibasaki and Tuala both played for Queensland age sides against Jones, Saulo, Matt Cooper, Kurtis Dark, Tom Starling, Brendan O'Hagan, Brayden Musgrove, Hudson Young, Sam McIntyre etc.

If Shibasaki and Tuala were Knights juniors we would be considering them rookies with a lot of improvement in them still, but because we are bringing them from outside we are looking at them as finished firstgraders.

Shibasaki and Matt Cooper were opposing fullbacks in the 2014 under 16s SOO game. They might be centre and wing for our reserve grade side in round 1, with Hoy at fullback.

Gehamet Shibasaki is a cool name too. What would your guess be at a backline, Rd 1 lineup Lord?

You don't often see a Malay muslim first name paired with a Japanese last name in a guy with Malay, Japanese and Torres Strait Islander heritage. He'd have a cool episode of "Who do you think you are".

We still have two spots to fill but I'd think they would come from internal upgrades. Tex Hoy and Chris Randall are the two currently unable to play first grade this year who's contract situations are intriguing. Next year I'd expect a fairly stable squad, some guys being let go, replaced by juniors for a cheap year or two before they establish themselves fully. I'm really hopeful Tuala breaks out next year and earns a new contract. Then all of a sudden it would appear we have a glut of three quarters when depth seemed a problem there only a month ago. At some point soon we are probably going to have to find another half a mill per year for Ponga's upgrade, depending on tpas. Still, to me the club is set up for a really good period of stability and success.

If Hunt misses out then we will be strong as he was 2019

The lack of a post on this thread from Cowboyman criticising Shibasaki’s defence is a nice change!

I’ll give it 5 rounds till you realise he isn’t that good in defence. Broncos fans couldn’t get him out the door quick enough.
