The upgrade for next year means we can get him cheap for a few years after that. 450k is pretty cheap for a SOO player.

Ok, this is a massive step for the club. First up, if he becomes a soo regular, it is a cheap deal. But more important is the fact that this is the first local player to say he won't even test himself on the open market, that there is massive potential at the club and he wants to be part of it. There are players he wants to play with. That hasn't happened in Newcastle since Joey was here. It makes the salary cap work for you a whole lot more.

There is a piece on The Players Voice written by Saifiti with some of the above including his experience with Origin and how he told his family/brother as well as Klemmer influence which he also spoke to nrl.com about too for anyone who has a spare several minutes to read it.

For mine Jake has never had the commitment of Daniel. Maybe seeing what Daniel has achieved may spur him on.

His manager must hate how open he is about staying.

With with the way he talks about being really close with all his extended family and the such I am surprised he is not managed by one of his uncles or something. But he also seems like the type of bloke that would maybe knowingly take a bit less to stay in Newcastle and to play with his brother.
