could you do it?

Mr Goanna

hung up on the glory days
could you play for a team you despised as a kid?
could you coach a team that you spent all your playing career trying to beat?
could you play against the team you grew up supporting, or could you coach against them, doing everything you could to make their life and the life of their fans, fans you used to sit with on the hill, a misery?

I couldn't. I don't care how much money they threw at me. it just wouldn't be right. imagine wearing the colours of the team you just hated to death and singing their song and just being in their club and being best pals with their jackass supporters? screw that.

In an adult world I definitely couldn't. As a kid the dogs were the team I "liked". As a proud novacastrian when I got to about 15 I felt like a traitor and been on the knights bus since. Never looked back and always played for my local side as a junior.

I was 30 years old when the Knights started.
Before that I was a lifelong Saints supporter.
I don't even think about Saints now, but for a few years I had divided loyalties.
Seems a bit funny to think back now to how the tied grandfinal between Saints and Parra was the biggest thing of my young life.

Easily a job has nothing to do with your personal oppinions.

Same here. I was a Dragons supporter. 2 biggest disappointments in life was watching Grothe score in the far corner of the SCG to beat us and being on the Hill when the Bulldogs beat us 7-6 in the GF. The first time the Knights played the Dragons at home it was a Friday night and I went decked out in my Dragons gear. Mid way through the second half I found myself cheering for the locals and have cheered for them since. If I have a number 2 team surprisingly it's not the Dragons. Go Storm.
