HE is the son of a State of Origin great, sacked by South Sydney for refusing to have heart surgery, and he has now become an internet sensation.
Welcome to the world of Wynnum Manly fullback Kurt French.
The son of Ian French, the former Wynnum and North Sydney star who played nine games for the Maroons between 1985-87, Kurt has more than emerged from his father’s shadow after an amazing 100m dropout while playing for the Seagulls last weekend against Ipswich in the Intrust Super Cup.
The monster kick travelled nearly 70m on the full before rolling over the deadball line at the other end of the field.
Rugby league historian David Middleton said it was a feat he has only ever seen one before - when former Parramatta halfback Dennis Moran did it while playing for Parkes in the NSW bush league.
