Ffs people think a week or on the tools for these Prima Donna’s would make a difference? Sorry but most of them are that sheltered from real life it’s abysmal. Not saying they are bad people just that they are sheltered.
When my brother was coming through parra late 90s from sg ball they all had jobs and worked basically full time up to first graders, he walked out qualified greens keeper and land scraper never played first owns his house mid 40/s and 2 investment properties and will probably retire in next 5-10 years.Maybe one day a week @ real job like trades do a day a week at TAFE?
We should just ignore their intence training schedules, the strict diet and fitness standards that they must abide by even in their own limited time while a lot of them are actually studying or even working during the week trying to get into their dream job that doesnt have many available roles and isnt exactly stable, do all this while thier body is in pain and they trying to deal with the mental fatiuge of it all. Yep put them on tools for a couple of days that will do it...
Most of the players in the NRL may not have all that many brain cells but they aren't all acting like privileged ****heads who don't understand the "real world", come on now 90% of the public servants in Canberra have less of an idea about this real world compared to these guys...
As a federal public servant, can confirm. Melbourne get all their new players on the tools for a week when they arrive at the club.
This may come across as a bit glib, but notable players who’ve been through the Melbourne Storm Turn Every Player Into A Model Citizen Academy include noted cleanskins Cam Munster, Brandon Smith, Josh Addo-Carr, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Curtis Scott…I believe that's a big part of why they have such a successful culture and don't take playing NRL for granted.
No wonder you have time to write multiple essays here daily lol.As a federal public servant, can confirm.

I am not denying they have a good culture, clearly they do, they play hard and win all the time. But I’m not convinced that the week on the tools is this silver bullet turning ratbags into good blokes. I reckon it’s more just positive PR for the club than anything.
Also think that when other clubs have players that play up off the field, that’s not because of some inherent failure at the club. I think a lot of very talented footy players just happen to be ratbags. The Storm were very forunate that their iconic Big Three may be the three biggest nerds in the sport’s history.
+1 here, many of my ps co-workers have no idea how the real world works. Live in a bubble. As a federal public servant, can confirm.
Very true, as someone who does brickwork, it is a painful back breaking job I’ve seen a lot start thinking they can just walk up and do it, only to leave not to long after.Nobody said having them on the tools turns them into model citizens, but having them on the tools clearly gives them the desire to win and not take NRL for granted.
Lols this is such a small minded and minimal view of what pro athletes actually do in order to keep themselves in playing condition both physically and mentallyPoor babies train 2-3 hours a day, play 80 mins a week and all their medical is taken care of and days planned for them. Ffs stop putting them on a pedestal, most people on here do it 10 times tougher.
I love them and admire them for their skills but life wise they don’t do it tough and have 20 times the opportunity most do, even those that don’t make grade if they choose to take advantage of it.
And on the flipside there’s only a small amount of people who have the attitude and perseverance to make it as a professional athlete otherwise we would all be doing it. And why they’re in the top 1% of the top 1% etcVery true, as someone who does brickwork, it is a painful back breaking job I’ve seen a lot start thinking they can just walk up and do it, only to leave not to long after.
You hit the nail on the head it won’t make you a model citizen but for these league guys it will 100% make them appreciate what they have because the alternative is nowhere near as good.
Outdated argument to be fair. And on the flipside there’s only a small amount of people who have the attitude and perseverance to make it as a professional athlete otherwise we would all be doing it. And why they’re in the top 1% of the top 1% etc
Tbf you've named like 3 players out of the many hundreds who've played NRL over that same time period. Im sure those 3 arent the only examples but they are an example of how a vast majority of professional athletes dont have the luxury of an Anthony MilfordOutdated argument to be fair.
Some players have 100% scatted by on pure talent.
I’m sorry but this is fact, sometimes people are just so naturally gifted it carries them when they don’t care about the hard work.
When they get there they decide they don’t care anymore since they are there and earning good money.
David Fifita is pure lazy on a stick.
Anthony Milford was another that had talent help him out by miles but than his attitude was **** and decided to do some sparring with the girls.
Latrell Mitchell went from a world beater to getting a million dollar contract and getting what ever he wants at the Rabbitohs and then He got fat, got slower, started to get more injuries. I’m sorry but you don’t go form what he looked like at the Roosters to having a gut at the bunnies if you put in the hard work
I could go on with Schuster and even more outside of league like Bale at Real and so on but that list is a million long so.
The idea that “athletes have great mentality and attitude that’s why they are there” is completely wrong, it does obviously play a part I’m not denying but to act like they all have great attitude and so on is false.
I’m sorry but you shouldn’t put athletes on a pedestal and act they all do the same and work so hard and all have these great attitudes.
I’m sorry but if Joes view are “minimal” than yours is flat out naive
