2026 Recruitment And Retention

Ok, so my full thinking on Henry is this: the narrative around Penrith is that he, Lyndsay Smith and Scott Sorensen are off contract. Smith is their priority and that could force the other two out. Henry has has initial talks with the club but will test the open market. He is dynamic, great leg speed and very strong in the tackle. Leg speed is something I feel we sorely lack. He has basically been their Spencer Lenui replacement, all action off the bench. That's the type of forward you are getting. He's a prop who can play 13 or on an edge at a pinch, so i think he's an ideal replacement for Friz in our pack. And he'd probably be worth similar coin.
We tried to get Sorensen a few years ago. He is too old now

Touching back on the Annan situation, I think we are probably in the fortunate position to take him off a top 30 deal and either offer him our last Supplementary contract or a train and trial deal, he hasn't played league in a number of years and is still only 22. If he's still in and around the system I wouldn't be mad, lot of improving can be done but he has the body type and shows glimpses of skills to be a decent outside back.

I think he may move to development if he stays

Keaon apparently going to test the market, is there any world where we have enough money? He would be $700k+ you’d imagine with him he a rep international, being good can play prop, lock and second row, plus the bears.

He would prob ask more as they all do tied in with the fact not many elite line bending props on the market so his value will inflate heavily.

We probably don’t have the money but damn him coming in would be a wet dream not gonna lie.

He’s an elite player but I don’t think we would have the coin for him. I reckon he’s just as good as Tino

I don’t think we’d be in the running unless Ponga decided to leave. The money he’d want will price us out

The fox sports article said he thinks he is now a prop and wants prop money. He is managed by Payne Haas’ manager.

It says Keon sees his value getting up towards $1 million a season mark

I think the numbers overstate Keaon’s value a bit too. Good player but I don’t think he’s getting his team rolling with those carries on the level certain other forwards are.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s nowhere near the current empty calorie numbers king (Terrell May), but if you put all the current middles who put up monster stats on a continuum, with Haas at one end (the numbers actually understate how impactful he is) and May at the other (the numbers massively overstate it), Keaon is somewhere in the middle there.
