2025 Recruitment And Retention

After seeing the highlights video of Votano on YouTube. I think we might have found our eventual/long term 6. Has the size, running game and kicking game required for that position. Also looks like he has time and doesn't look rushed at all.

The SMH has reported that Blaize Talag has opted against taking up his option for next year with the Eels and has commenced negotiations with the Dragons and Knights for next year.

I don't know if we could take him, he is a great player and has a bright future but right now where would we put him??

He could just be trying to get more money out of Parra.
I doubt his option would have been worth much.

Wouldn’t be surprised Green name is being mentioned, but specially by his manager as it’s his job to promote him. Hopefully though he’s happy here as the attack coach for a couple more years. He has his young kids here and in school and footy teams, hard to make them move at a that age.

Talangi obviously a great talent and would probably be straight into the 5/8 role. Purely ball running 5/8 and link man would be perfect. Would mean they aren’t stoked with Pryce progression, which is understandable. Best he looked was when he had Hastings next to him. Anyone lesser and he’s going solo too much and making A LOT of poor choices. You can see Sutton blowing up a fair bit when he had a line set up to the right and Pryce goes magic play down short side.

Fortunately Pryce is only on a 2 year contract, but I wonder how long he will be given before he is given permission to explore opportunities elsewhere.

I'd let him go right now if we could get someone to pick up even half his contract and clear a top 30 spot for us, but he still might turn things around over time.
He is clearly fit, hard working, enthusiastic and even really popular with the other players. He just throws himself into the game and makes a lot of poor decisions.
It's funny that Sutton is unhappy with Pryce, because that's exactly how I would have described Sutton in Ball 2 years ago. I can still hear Tom Cant screaming at Sutton to "settle down" when he kept trying things that didn't work in Ball.

Bit harsh it’s his first year out here. From what I’ve seen there is a rugby league player in Pryce. At least give him next season. Look at Dom young in his first year he was shocking

Absolutely. Biggest issue is we have here on good coin, from what is reported.

My main issue with him in past weeks, is I feel he was told by staff, now KP is out, there is a real opportunity for you to prove self. Sadly all i;ve seen is him playng for himself, going for the showpiece play. Instead of showing what he can do for his team. His attitude looks worse off as well, mouthing off at player when mistakes happen. I hope i'm wrong and he becomes what we hoped. But looks a little dim right now.

Club is probably seeing it as someone who takes up good coin we'd use on a Talangi who has shown the talent already in FG for same amount of $$, compared to hoping Pryce improves before next yr. when he comes off contract.

If knights are in fact chasing him, I say its very good business. He'd improve our squad immensely and fix the issue of 5/8 straight away

i think with Talagi, we have room for 2026 so maybe a weighted contract for 2025? i don't think he'll leave Sydney, but surely we have a compelling opportunity.
