Moga - another interesting one. Talented if he can stay injury free, a make or break year for him? Early prediction is he won't be here after next year.

I don't think he will be in the NRL after next year.

JSaf- I'm predicting a massive year from him and will be resigned. This is when he will start hitting his prime.

Saulo - might play a bit of 13 this year with a bit of foot work. Will probably play more first grade and should get a new deal.

Watson - good defence probably makes 6 his own but may be required to cover 9 at times especially if Levi isn't here. One of our best last year, will definitely get a new deal.

Mann and Sione - not off contract but will have to improve significantly defensively to be chosen in first grade by Obi. If they are playing reggies for long periods, might look elsewhere?

All that might open up five or six spots in the 2021 roster? A lot might hinge on who gets the last five spots this season too

there was an Obi interview today where he was talking about the options at 5/8 and he mention Watson and Mann as utilities that have spent some time there and that they were options.
But then he went on to say he really likes Phoenix Crossland in more depth and that he really likes him physically and the way he plays.
Sounds like he is leaning towards Crossland for now.
I don't see Mann in the top 17 if Crossland is 6 and Watson is 14.

Crossland will be special when he is ready. He is big for a half, very fit with a high work rate, fast, kicks like a mule, smart.
But he is 18 and a skinny kid.
Maybe he'll be ready after the off season, but I'd still like to see him eased into the side over time, not dropped in to sink or swim like so many have been over the last few years.

With no extra signings or injuries I see the team lining up as,
    1.Ponga
    2.Lee
    3.Hunt
    4.Best
    5.Toa
    6.Crossland
    7.Pearce
    8.Klem
    9.Brailey
    10.D.Saf
    11.Fitz/Guerra
    12.Barnett
    13.Glasby
    14.Watson
    Other bench spots between
    Fitz/Guerra/Ese/Sione/J.Saf/King/ Momoisea/Saulo

That's not what the article says.

Crossland is working towards that goal, which is what the article mainly focuses on. With this and comments from other interviews with Obi, Crossland seems to be frontrunner for the role right now.

There's been 2 days of training, I really doubt there's a front runner yet

I'd also suggest O'Brien is more likely to throw words of encouragement at young guys rather than old guys too.

Yep, as I said, still plenty of pre-season to go.

Tyrone Robberts-Davis starts training with the Knights on Monday on a train and trial deal.
