Very Interesting Krusty, shows you are confident - do you mind if I wait till we see the starting sides named before I commit ?

Unfortunately, my prediction is we won't see much football this year. Juventus have just announced centre back Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Corona. With a long incubation period, I don't see how anyone plays against Juve for five weeks or so. Once an NRL player tests positive, what happens to the comp? Maybe we close it down shortly and play in to the summer? I just hope the Knights show massive signs of improvement while ever we have games to watch.

It’s just a cold isn’t it? Same as the other colds which can potentially kill the young and the elderly.

Italy is in a pretty different situation to Australia though. The whole county is on lockdown, hopefully things don’t get to that level here.

Massive massive media beat up to fear the general public and ultimately easy for governments to control.

Only the next Ebola, bird flu etc that we have had over the years where a few people die (relative to the world population) and it slowly becomes irrelevant until the next one arrives.

Absolute joke how easy people are manipulated into fear.

I agree, if I was in charge it would be business as usual. I think what is driving the way a country like Italy has overreacted is the fear of litigation.

The death rate in Italy is up around 4% - 10x the worst flu - basically 1 in 25 people who get it in Italy are dieing. Italy does have one of the oldest average populations in the world, so most countries will do better than that.

Like any flu if you’re elderly or have respiratory problems/weaknesses then you’re vulnerable. Other then that it’s massive media hysteria.

99+% of people dying in Italy are over 65. NRL players should be cool.

Most people who get it won't develop pneumonia, but if any NRL players got a bad enough case to develop pneumonia, that's the end of their season. They won't be running much with the lungs of an 80 year old.
Lungs take a very long time to recover from a bought of pneumonia - sometimes they never recover.

I think people are downplaying it too much, there are top health officials now saying it's 10x worse than the regular flu. It's only been around since late last year so you can't compare regular flu deaths from a whole year period to this which is only just starting to spread globally.

It's still going to get worse, who knows what's going to happen with sport, if 1 player gets infected, they're going to have to quarantine the whole team & that affects the team they played last week & the team they're going to play next week, then before you know it the whole comp is compromised. I'm not one of these people freaking out buying toilet paper & I realize that it's only really a risk to vulnerable people, but I don't think we should be taking this lightly. This is going to affect millions of people, more countries are going to look at locking down soon out of necessity.

People might be downplaying it but the media over exaggerate and fear monger. Probably best to find a happy medium. Australia is one of the least affected countries let’s hope it stays that way.
