2020 Harold Matts and SG Ball

the update guy has gone into meltdown.
He has both teams up to 10 interchanges and the game nearly over - but we are about 30 minutes in i think.

6-4 at halftime
Radzievic doing the goal kicking over Pezet is a big call, but both are very good.

16-10 to the Knights.
Keeley goes back to back.

trys so far
  • Samuel McIntyre 34'
  • Oryn Keeley 48'
  • Oryn Keeley 52'

Keeley went off HIA after scoring that try - replaced by Travis Petersen, who was a centre last year.

Fulltime 16-16 draw against last year's minor premiers and beaten grandfinalists.
Not perfect, but a good start to the season.

Getting a point off them at Brookvale is a moral victory for us I think.

If I understand the new concussion rules correctly, Keeley can't play next week because he went off HIA.

Manly's home record last year was 4-0, so this is the first point they have given up at home since 2018.

Players who are concussed will also be required to stand down for a period of 14 days and will only be eligible to resume contact training and be considered for selection again after receiving clearance from a specialised concussion doctor.

Actually, we have a bye next week and then a game against west coast pirates, so Keeley can have a month off if he needs it.

Interesting that Manly had a Hunta Saunders in their side, he is a Union player who has been playing for the Maitland Blacks. Unless of cause it's a different Hunta Saunders which I doubt with a name like that.

Anyone know if Mathews middle forwards Jarred and Liam Williams and Ball middle forward Lauclan Williams are related?
Pretty common name.

Also Samuel McIntyre is from NZ.
Tevita Toloi from QLD.
@Billy
I found Toloi on google and saw he was from Qld, but when I tried to google Sam McIntyre all I got was the guy with the same name who was a centre in our Mathews and Ball sides from 2014-17, and is now in the Wests Tigers top 30 squad as a second row.

I remember we had two outside backs named Williams in the lower grades years ago, Simon and Mitch. They weren't related either.
One of them, Simon Williams, would have played firstgrade if he had any lateral movement in defence. He was as hard as a rock and anyone who ran at him got smashed, but if you ran 3 foot either side of him he didn't move an inch and never got a hand on you. Great attacking player though.
