Newcastle won 18-12 in the Andrew Johns cup.
    Pretty scrappy game.

ref is giving us hell in the under 18s
the Knights have a lot of players from the harold mathews side last year and are tackling hard. like that side did, but the ref is hating our strong defence. penalty after penalty against us.

Greater Northern Tigers 10-4 Knights at halftime
Knights have had about 30% possession after being smashed in the penalty count and all the 50/50 calls going against them, but still look like they'll win if they get any sort of break in the second half.
Prop Sam Robinson and second row Ethan Butterfield have been our best. Butterfield is a tall forward - unusual for that clan.

    Knights lost 32-4
They were out on their feet in the second half.
good fitness workout for the boys to have to defend all game at least.

whoever the ref was, he couldn't look anyone in the eye.
The Knights were questioning him all second half and he wouldn't look at them.

Billy, any idea why Mitch Henderson was playing for Greater Northern and not for the Knights?

I thought he was one of our better players last year and again today playing against us. Hopefully it's just a case of him being a year young for Ball and the Knights are giving him a year closer to home before bringing him back as I think he goes alright and a bit better than what we put out there today.

I liked him last year too.
The Tigers are based in the upper Hunter, so I wouldn't be surprized if we could call him up to Ball if we needed him. He played well enough today to catch the eye I thought.
I might have the wrong guy, but I thought he was the kid who was going to Farrer near Tamworth, so he only has to travel half as far to train with Greater Northern.

Yeah pretty sure he was going to Farrer. Maybe he’s doing year 12 so concentrating on school for a year. He definitely has potential though.
