It's good we don't have to put up with the Marshs, Finch and Handscomb anymore.

Apart from Pucovski, the selectors are just recycling players.

Surely you reward a young gun in siddles spot?

Yes, it is a very disappointing selection. It was a perfect opportunity to give a young fast bowler a go before the Ashes tour.

Can’t believe they actually didn’t pick 3 of the guys I said they shouldn’t pick again.

It’s a start at least. Travis Head to soon follow if he keeps giving his wicket away as well.

Not a good start in the tour match between the CAXI and Sri Lanka

Renshaw out for 7, Burns gone for 4, Labuschagne gone for 6 and Pucovski gone for 23

Only Kurtis Patterson has put together a decent score, he is 51 not out.

Huge partnership from Patterson (157*) and Jake Doran (102*) gets the CAXI to 5/316 declared, They came together at 5/98

    Sri Lanka 0/3 at stumps

Patterson continues his great Shield form from this year and his overall FC record continues to improve

I have no doubt that Patterson will play test cricket before too long.

He has been consistent for a few seasons now as well, Constantly in the top 5 run scorers for NSW and Top 10 overall most seasons

Keep in mind he is only 25 and the current season is only half done

    2014/2015 - 372 runs @ 28.61 (5th for NSW, 29th Overall)
    2015/2016 - 737 runs @ 52.64 (1st for NSW, 6th Overall)
    2016/2017 - 668 runs @ 44.53 (3rd for NSW, 10th Overall)
    2017/2018 - 672 runs @ 37.33 (1st for NSW, 10th Overall)
    2018/2019 - 428 runs @ 47.55 (3rd for NSW, 11th Overall)

Kurtis Patterson scored 102 not out in the second innings to go with his 157 not out in the first innings. Just for the record, I picked him in my test team.

Our selectors have made themselves look foolish again by picking the test team before the CA X1 game. They should now add Patterson to the test squad.

Labuschagne and Pucovski scored 50 and 33 not out in the second innings respectively.

Ahh Lefty you ain't Hohns or Chappell sadly.

Hazelwood has broken down and will miss this series. Replaced by Jhye Richardson.

No wonder Hazlewood has broken down. Treating him like a 30 yr old Mcgrath and hoping he can produce the same.

Kurtis Patterson has been added to Australia's squad for the Gabba test. Wow! An outbreak of common sense by the selectors.

It looks like Patterson will be selected to play in Brisbane and this should strengthen our batting line-up.

Deserves his chance, hope he bats 4 or 5 and gets both tests, yes common sense selection and could easily replace Head

This is what I would go with for the first test

I would give Patterson and Will Pucovski both tests, I love Jhye Richardosn and think he could be a star in all formats, Burns just ahead of Travis Head for me

    My Team

    Matt Renshaw
    Marcus Harris
    Usman Khawaja
    Kurtis Patterson
    Will Pucovski
    Joe Burns
    Tim Paine (c)
    Pat Cummins
    Mitchell Starc
    Jhye Richardson
    Nathan Lyon

Not Playing - Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Siddle
