Mitchell Starc is the 8th best all rounder in the game and he only played in one test match against the Poms. The selectors must take some of the blame for us not winning the Ashes and only drawing them.

I wonder what Joe Burns was thinking as he watched our openers being terrorised during the series.

Kurtis Patterson must be feeling confident about being selected to play in the home tests this summer.

And what Lefty do you think will make Hohns' 'back to the future' policy change?

Be prepared for Warner, the Marshes, etc etc to continue.

There's been a few articles about Smith in the last few days pointing out how much mental effort he puts into has game and how he now says he's "cooked" after the tour.
One article said he hardly sleeps during a test because he's thinking so much about what he has to do.

I wouldn't want him to change that, because it obviously worked for us, but you have to wonder if we should give him any more pressure, like the captaincy.

The captain is on massive pay, so he might want to be captain just because it's hard to say no to extra millions, but if I were the selectors I'd give him top dollar to just keep batting us to victories and not concern himself with anything else.

He did seem to handle being captain in the past, but you can't ignore that he averaged 110 this tour, when all he had to do was put all that nervous energy of his into batting.

We clearly need a fresh approach with team selection. We should sack all the selectors and appoint a new panel of selectors.

Not sure about Pakistan, very inconsistent side who will come good in World Cup. Can’t get into it though, virtually beaten in the three games with little or no pressure on Aussies, scoring runs in little over half overs without loosing a wicket leaves little excitement or pressure. Give me 50 over game but preferably test match.

Wow! Burns is a surprise selection, he should have been selected for the Ashes. We do not have 6 batsman in form to select for the first test.

Think Bancroft, Neser and Pattinson miss out meaning Head and Wade at 5 & 6. For Head and Bancroft to be named indicates a lack of form batsmen

James Pattinson has been suspended for the first test

    From cricket.com.au

Paceman James Pattinson has been suspended by Cricket Australia and will miss the first Domain Test against Pakistan at the Gabba.

The speedster has been found guilty of a Level Two breach of CA's Code of Conduct following Victoria's Marsh Sheffield Shield game against Queensland last week. Under the Code, a Level Two breach is enough to trigger a suspension.

The exact details of Pattinson's offence at the MCG last week have not been revealed, but he was found guilty of a Level Two breach of Article 2.13, which relates to personal abuse of a player.

In a statement, CA said Pattinson "apologised immediately and unreservedly to the opponent and the umpires and did not contest the charge".

"I made a mistake in the heat of the moment," Pattinson said.

"Straight away I realised I was in the wrong, and I apologised immediately, both to the opponent and to the umpires.

"I have done the wrong thing and accept the penalty. I'm gutted to miss a Test match, but the standards are there for a reason and the fault is mine."

Pattinson has now been found guilty of a Code of Conduct breach in three of his past six Shield games.

He was found guilty of two separate breaches in March this year, the first for abuse of equipment in a match against NSW and the second for showing dissent during a Shield game in Adelaide a week later. These offences were considered minor and classified as Level One breaches.

While a third Level One offence within 18 months would have triggered a suspension, the fact Pattinson's latest breach has been classed as Level Two was enough alone to see him banned.

Brisbane test a bit one sided at this time, Aust seemingly cruising, nice to see Burns getting some runs.
