    Knights top 4
I'd be more confident if Slade was in the team but Levi looked good in defense last wk...

Fair bit of variation in the old predictions.

I think we've been losing for too long to be realistic top 4 shot, but with all the talent in the team surely they make the 8. Unless injuries I guess.

We won 9 last year with the improved talent and if we stay healthy you see us winning more or less honestly 15 wins got you top 8 last year I can’t see that being the same prob more like 13 wins I reckon I think race for 8th will be very tight

As our Warriors were in a similar situation to you guys last year a couple of things became apparent.

The team has to defend well. Warriors got there on their defence last year. Never mind what the pundits said.

Another thing is that they will have to win against teams below them on the ladder. That is where our guys went wrong. Losing to the Titans and Dogs hurt them. The margins are so tight for the 8. Again pundits said we scraped into the 8. Some truth to that but we were also 2 points from the minor premiership. Playoff positions mean a lot.

    Best wishes.

Agreed mate, The margins are so small these days

It was the tightest top 8 ever with just 2 points separating 1st from 8th

If you look at those 5th-8th placed teams they all had games that they should've won during the year against the bottom teams

Panthers (Finished 5th on 32 points)

Round 3: Lost to the Bulldogs 20-18
Round 9: Lost to the Cowboys 26-20
Round 16: Lost to the Sea Eagles 18-10

Broncos (Finished 6th on 32 points)

Round 4: Lost to the Titans 26-14
Round 10: Lost to the Sea Eagles 38-24
Round 21: Lost to the Bulldogs 36-22
Round 22: Lost to the Cowboys 34-30

Dragons (Finished 7th on 32 points)

Round 22: Lost to the Eels 40-4
Round 24: Lost to the Bulldogs 38-0

Warriors (Finished 8th on 32 points)

Round 20: Lost to the Titans 36-12
Round 23: Lost to the Bulldogs 27-26

Very good post. We tend to forget that every team can tip anyone over on their day. Nice reminder it isnt just us.

Fans wanting top 4 and such is all well and good but you just have to focus week to week. Just handle the issues you can control. The main thing you cant control is injury.

The other factor is referees. My opinion is the officiating hasnt kept up with the game. I hate criticising Refs but some of the mistakes, particularly from the Bunker is woeful.

Kearney is no chance of getting sacked. He just signed on till the end of 2022 last week. Would cost a fortune to sack him.

    For the Knights to go deep into season 2019, 2 primary things need to happen;

    1) We need to be at or above 80-85% completions every week consistently - the trail against the Sharks again highlighted what happens when we have no discipline in valuing possession

    2) we need to develop a discipline of consistent line speed in D and have 1 down lower in tackles - it was also apparent in the Sharks game that, as we coughed up possession and fatigued, we went back to waiting for the attack to hit the Advantage line and we had too many tackles where there were 2 or more players high and nobody wrapping up legs

If we can concentrate on those 2 things being right, the rest will fall into place with attack, combinations, etc.

I think 6-8 is very achievable but not if we don't get the 2 things above sorted and maintained throughout the season

That list is about right but I’d take the Sharks out and put another team in

If McGuire can work his magic again based off last year the tigers are a shot

Sharks will be up there. Even if they lose players this year with cap issues, their players coming through ranks are class. They’re used to playing with off-field issues so I’d imagine it’s business as usual.

Us and Panthers are questionable for mine. I’d have the Cowboys up there and wouldn’t be surprising to see Titans in the mix as well.
