Article on the Knights site that talks about Simi Sasagi and Bradman Best (also Beau Fermor).

The interesting thing about Simi and Bradman is that I don't think we even know what position they will end up playing yet. I have seen Simi play centre, hooker, 5/8, and I think he has played lock forward or even second row during games. He is certainly big enough and a good enough athlete to play anywhere on the field except maybe prop at this stage, and he could easily grow into that as well.
Bradman is built very different to Simi - he is already built like a prop forward - but he'd also be the fastest over 100 metres of any of our juniors, and explosive over short distances as well. His first year with us he played in the forwards, then went back to fullback when they saw how fast he is, and now plays wing or centre. He could play anywhere except maybe halfback or hooker.
It will be interesting to see where Simi in particular is picked to play for next week.

    Imagine a Flegg backline of;

    2 Star Toa
    3 Timanu Alexander
    4 Bradman Best
    5 Tex Hoy
    6 Simi Sasagi
    7 Pheonix Crossland

The speed and power in that backline would make it the best under 20s backline in our history - just needs a Jake Mamo or Matt Cooper at fullback.

What position do you think Best is better suited at? Reckon he’ll be a long-term centre?

I honestly don’t know. He could be anything from a powerful prop forward to a fullback. Only thing I’ll rule out is halfback.

    Team v Norths

    1. Grant Anderson
    2. Toby Marks
    3. Bradman Best
    4. Tex Hoy
    5. Justin Worley
    6. Dylan Lucas
    7. Bayden Searle
    8. Jack Cameron
    9. Luke Huth
    10. Daniel Ticehurst
    11. Ben Talty
    12. Ofa Manuofetoa
    13. Brandon Russell

    14. Simi Sasagi
    15. Timanu Alexander
    16. Kingston Puru
    17. Joe Bromage

No Matt Croker. We probably won't need him against Norths. I noticed he spent a lot of time on the bench last week, but did come back on to finish the game, so maybe he has a slight injury (fingers crossed). Timanu Alexander on the bench. He looks huge this year, so maybe he has been moved from centre to second row.
Dureau might be using Simi as a super sub - that's how he used him last year in Ball, and Simi makes stuff happen when he goes on fresh, whatever position he plays.

I notice Tex Hoy was playing fullback in those highlights, which makes more sense than him playing centre.
He looked very good in the highlights, as you'd expect.
He made a few breaks before giving the ball to Best, and if Best had wanted to pass, Hoy was the only one with the pace to go with him.

Spot on Billy, Best was a beast in these highlights. Some of his tries were embarrassingly easy for someone still eligible to play two years younger.

Also I've been impressed with Hoy this year, I already think he is a more rounded & talented footballer than Connor Watson although I don't think he's anywhere near ready for a season in 1st grade.

Manu Alexander has always shifted between centre & 2nd row in juniors so there's no doubt they will use him in the forwards to allow them to fit all their backs in somewhere.

I notice Hoy had 9 errors in 5 games of reserve grade, which is a Jake Mamo like error rate for a fullback. He's probably back in under 20s to work on that.

In the trial against Newtown Hoy dropped the first kick of the day cold and gifted them a try but I thought he went on to be one of the best on the field after that. Reggies aren't setting the World on fire which probably doesn't help these younger guys either but he has definitely had some quality touches in most games.

Billy, I realise we have Ponga but other clubs are rolling out players like David Fifita, Lomax, Xerri, Harris-Tavita, Graham, Brown etc in their teens. Who is next closest of the Knights to get a crack while still a teenager? Is it Crossland?

Some changes this week. Best is out. I won't be surprized if he plays reserve grade later today.
Timanu Alexander replaces Best at centre.
Sasagi is out. I won't be surprized if he plays reserve grade later today.
Bromage also out. Sasagi is replaced by Moon and Watene and Fiu are on the bench too.

Crossland is the only teenager currently in the top 36 list (as a development player). We can name development players in firstgrade after July 1, and we have 3 more positions we can give out before that date. At this stage I'd give the 3 spots to Chris Randall, Mitch Andrews and Star Toa, so if they go that way, Crossland and Toa would be the only 2 teenagers who could play this year. I think Best and Sasagi are both a year too young to be allowed to play firstgrade.

8-4 to the Knights - try to Justin Worley - they took the goal off us for some reason. both our wingers have scored now.
