The Australian Rugby League Commission has today selected the following players to represent the Holden Kangaroos in the Four Nations tournament.

Ten players have been selected to make their Test debuts in the tournament, which begins with a double header at Suncorp Stadium on October 25.

“We have a really good blend of experience and youth,” Holden Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens said.

“The positive for me is the experience that even the debutants have.

“We have a high proportion of State of Origin representatives and premiership winners and they all deserve to wear the jumper.”

I don't see the need for a utility, We need as many forwards as possible going up against the big NZ forward pack

We are light on in props so I presume Thaiday and Parker will spend a fair bit of time there along with Papalii who played prop in the PMXIII vs PNG game

I also believe we need as many players as we can get with rep experience on the bench (Cordner, Papalii, Hoffman and Guerra)

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing Klemmer on the bench either
 
Rhugh89's team looks the goods, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Dylan Walker getting named on the wing in place for Johnston.
 
Sheens was talking up Tupou today so I wouldn't be surprised if he was there on the wing and agreed with Afro, I think Walker or Mansour might get a start over Johnston, they're a bit older and maybe a little more reliable. Hoffman seems to always be first selected so I think he might start and Scott is really starting to bring some good attack into his game to go with his brutal defence so he might be a good impact backrower now.

I really can't see Sheens going without a utility even though it'd be great.

If they don't win their first 2 I don't think Sheens will be risking putting in even more debutantes.
 
Yeah I reckon Tupou will be there for the Origin experience. Most guys who haven't yet played at that level will probably be left out of the top team with Sheens saying stuff like if you've played Origin you've basically played a test so you're ready for that level.

Moylan called into Kangaroos squad

Penrith Panthers fullback Matt Moylan has been added to the Holden Kangaroos squad for the Four Nations tournament following the withdrawal of Jarryd Hayne.

"We needed to cover fullback following Jarryd's withdrawal and Matt has been one of the stand-out fullbacks during the NRL season," Holden Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens said.

"Matt impressed me in PNG with the Prime Minister's XIII and I'm looking forward to working with him in the Four Nations squad."

We could have Walker/Johnston and Tupou/Jennings combinations but they both play on the left... If Mansour plays then he's going to break up one of these combos and be partnered with a centre who's playing on the wrong side or he himself will be playing on the wrong side. It's worrying for Australia. If the other nations can't beat Aus now then the gap is bigger than realised. It'll take a courageous effort for us to win this, I'm excited to see how the young players stand up to the challenge.
 
Great to see Moylan get a shot after the year he's had. If he performs well in the 4 Nations he could very well earn a spot in the NSW Squad as i'm sure Laurie Daley will be watching. Guys like Mansour, Walker and Moylan will want to play their hearts out not only due to representing their country, but if they perform well it will give them a strong chance at further rep honours. I'm excited.
