Let's be honest its time for our team for 2021!

It will be hard to leave Best, Toa or Sasagi out of the 3/4 line next year, and Tuala is now first picked - so where does that leave Lee and Hunt?

I was watching Kotoni Staggs and thought, he's an older (3 years older) version of Simi Sasagi - they are the same size, weight and have the same speed and power. Sasagi has scored a try a game in lower grades, just by being unstoppable. He has been training with firstgrade for the longest pre season anyone has ever had and should be making crazy progress, so by game one next year he should be at least as ready as Best showed himself to be this year.
As I said, it will be hard to leave him out of game 1 next year.

Honest?

More of the same in 2021 as we have no real 5/8, Pearce is getting close to his by date and apart from Lee and Best our outside backs are pretty inconsistent performers.

Hunt is the most consistent back we have had for years. Tuala is coming in leaps and bounds. I think the halves need to be challenged to get the backs involved earlier then what they do.

Sorry Billy but I see Best and Toa in our backline along with Tuala and Hunt so Sasagi will have to wait along with Lee and Shibs if all are uninsured. Our backline looks good, any 4 of that 6 will do me but that is not the teams problem

It would be between Sasagi and Best as to who is the best athlete.
I don't know if Sasagi is the best footballer because all I've seen him do is knock little kids out of the way and score tries - but that's pretty much all I saw of Best for a few years too.

Sasagi has a high ceiling but the crazy thing is we still don’t know his best position. Played fullback in the trials, centre at 9’s and has played hooker and five-eight over different games. Kid has potential, speed, size, power and I can’t wait to see what he has to offer in firsts, whatever position that he be in.

Hunt has been very consistant since he came here as has Tuala and Best has only played a few games how can you tell how consistant he will be .
1 Ponga
2 Lee
3 Best
4 Tuala
5 Hunt
Imo thats our best backline .

Queue the hatred and abuse but here goes.............Ponga to 5/8 next year. He’s three full seasons in now. We have a huge issue in the halves. Huge. Pearce isn’t what he used to be. Tries to hard, no support and our plays are so easily read. Hoy is a FB with huge wraps, give him a pre-season at FB and start him there. Ponga would take all attention off Pearce and allow him to quietly go about his business.

1. Hoy
6. Ponga
7. Pearce
9. Brailey
14. Mann

Crossland will 110% get game time at some point and is the apparent heir to Pearce’s throne (which is currently made out of turds). I see no other answer for next year other than a complete out of the box awesome halves signing (like Foran ;-) ).

Let the attack begin..............

Although next year Young will be here and hopefully please god he's better than all 5 of them and we sign him for life ...Hey im aloud to Dream...

Moving Ponga didn't work and ive seen nothing that tells me it would be any different now .
Imo moving Ponga weakens one position (his best position ) to strengthen another and when we tried that last time it didnt work , Ponga needs space to play his best ...
With Brailey back at 9 Crossland will imo be 6 with Pearce 7 and Ponga 1 .
Mann , Hoy , Watson , Lino and Sasagi will have to fight for the spots .
Hoy has huge wraps from Johns but he is hoy's Dads best mate and although he looks like a good player i havent seen enough from him for me to have huge wraps on him .
He played well in the nines and he played ok for us a few times but thats about it so far .

Anyone else over the whole defensive team crap?

Really isn't what newie is about sorry if another team scores 30 we score 32 to win.

If its true we have been ignoring our attack all year it's laughable.

It's not the 90s anymore, defence is the way to win premierships these days. We haven't featured as a contender for about 2 decades for that exact reason. It's about time we got a defensive minded coach. Our attack isn't failing because they're not training attack, they're professional footballers who have played the game all their life, it's failing because Pearce is horribly out of form & has little help in the halves.

Defence wins premierships. It needs to be second nature to the boys. It has improved out of sight this year. And it is exactly what the knights are about when we are successful, just coaches from Hagan onwards haven't been able to fix some of our glaring problems. That's what I'm over.

I know its frustrating when they dont play great but really i think were going ok .
A new coach taking over a sxxtshow , then covid , a massive amount of injuries especially long term one's and yet we have played some good footy this season .
It is frustrating when you know how good they can be but its really our first year of looking like a side on the up and others can see it because players now want to come here .
As far as im concerned OBrien is right Defence wins comps , you cant win the comp if you cant score against your opposition's defence.
Once Pearce gets out of this form slump he's in , our attack will be good once more. Personally i think its nuts to say he's lost it or no good anymore , players go through form slumps it happens a lot .
Trouble is they have a bad game or two then start trying too hard and it gets worse . He will settle down relax and let his game flow again and we will be all good (be good if it happened soon though ).
Finals this year Grand Final next year .

The only reason i said about Moga in the b/row was because he knows he's not here next season probably has an English club interested and is now earning thousands a week and doesn't have to do anything for it or be worried about getting injured before going somewhere else .
I say use him make him work for it you never know he may go well of the bench and into the b/row .

I would rather pay him to do nothing than line up for the knights ever again. Put some pride in the jersey
