Ex-Knights Watch

Whenever I get pissed off that we let Starling go after he was one of our best ever juniors for years, I remember how tiny he is and how it's close to a miracle that he can be so good at that size.
Good on Mulholland for giving him a chance at the Knights and having enough faith to sign him for the Raiders after we wanted him to go part time.
I don't know how the little guy did 16 more tackles than the next best raider and scored 2 tries as well as playing the full game. He is a freak.

my memory of it was that the Knights wanted Starling to train and trial, and he got a development spot at the Raiders, so he took it.
The bit about them changing his tackling style is over stated too - he just went back to tackling low like he did for 50 tackles a game for years in our lower grades - just stopped trying to wrap up the ball like Brown would have wanted.

Good little player.
Would have been good to have around now.
I thought he had a good debut for us. Brown just thought he was too small and not what we needed.
Browns obsession with chewing through hookers and not signing a true 5/8 hurt us.
But he also made a few great recruitment calls.

I don't think O'Brien would like Fermor.
He is a great attacking player, but not a good defender - too small in the forwards and doesn't read the play well in the centres - so I don't think he would be in favour here.

Starling, what a terrier he is...great to see him lining up you-know-who for his first run back and hitting him with everything he had! :applause:

Apparently the player who had a medical emergency playing for central on the weekend was Joel Dark, who was a very good junior for us in under 16s. I think he would be 18 or 19 now.
He is the brother of Kurtis Dark and cousin of the Cordner brothers.

Is he ok Billy? Is Kurtis still with us? I remember you always had big wraps on him.

Kurtis played Qld cup last year. I don't know what he is doing now.
Joel went to hospital and had seizures after a head knock, so it sounds like a pretty nasty incident.
Was reported today he's in a critical condition... Not good at all
