Toohey's News

I don't have a problem with Hoy or Crossland for that matter forcing Mann out Harry...if either are good enough, then we are all the stronger for it and I do consider Mann on the whole to generally be a mediocre first grader at best.

But outside of Watson, who's current value to the team I don't want to see diminished, I think he is the 2nd best available first grade quality utility player we have at the moment. On that basis I don't see Obi releasing Mann any time soon to the Warriors as a filler when he holds too much utility value for us during this season

article today is about Randall getting a run as reward for all his hard work.
Says the "smart money" is on Best starting at left centre because his explosive form at training gives O'Brien no choice.
Says Pearce is in the best possible frame of mind and as focused as he has ever been, and tips Pearce to have a big game this week.
Says Hoy has earned the kicking duties.

Gee Best must really be impressive to knock out Tuala after not putting a foot wrong.

good coaching if he does but, shows he’s not afraid to make tough decisions.

Tough call either way, great problem to have, two good strike centres. Probably shows how highly Obi rates Shib more than anything.

Today's column -
Knights have been "dudded" with the same day travel draw. Basically says all our games are a long way from home, while others are not travelling far.
Says Pearce has passed all the protocols and is a "certain starter" - gives the Sydney press a serve for thinking they are medical experts.
Has a say on Brodie Jones - basically mentions all the points I did a few days ago - that he always had the talent, that his desire was in question, that he was lucky to get a small contract this year etc etc. Where we differ is that Toohey thinks it's all down to Jones "finally seeing the light", and I think it's all down to him being on Brown's **** list for unknown reasons, and this year he has seen a chance and grabbed it, because O'Brien is rewarding effort.

I know coaching can be a fickle thing (ive been on the end of it ) but I have to say im liking Obrien more and more . I think we bought ourselves a good one here .

Trent Robinson has just moved into a house on our family dog walking route. My wife calls me a groupie and stalker (lols) for making sure the route never changes. Trent and I have had a few chats re footy. Nothing deep. Just as long as the time it takes for our daughters to get bored of each other. He was very impressed with Newcastle vs Panthers last week and is enjoying the new rules. Defo want to work my way into an OB chat. Would be a great insight to hear if he thinks Panthers effort will be a consistent thing under OB. He Defo should be happy this weekend.

Obi just needs confidence in his public speaking is all Ethan. It is a nervous reaction.

Maybe I should come out of retirement?

He looks a bit nervous, but he's much better at public speaking than Brown was. Brown just used a lot of cliches and told you next to nothing.
O'Brien gives you a bit of information, without giving away anything sensitive.
If anything he under sold how well the guys trained in the off season - after years of us being told how great things were going, and it turned out we were way behind other sides.

Loved Rick Stone's catch phrases too "We've got some irons in the fire" when referring to player recruitment, and "he'll be alright but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed" referring to Matt Hilder like players.
