2020 Top 30 Squad

Soper-Lawler was in the Melbourne system a few years ago so would have worked with O'Brien.
He was a late bloomer at the Knights. I don't think he played till the under 20s when he was picked up after being top try scorer in the real NRL as an 18/19 year old (if I remember correctly). He was a prolific try scorer at the Knights, then in the Qld cup, and got a pre season for Melbourne.
He's like a slightly smaller version of Nick Meaney, only Meaney is not really a try scorer for some reason, and Soper-Lawler sniffs out a try most games. He has a real knack of getting on the end of kicks.

Hooker, Wade Egan has signed with warriors, I'd say that means we are stuck with Levi, doubt there is any other suiters for him so looks like we are stuck with him?

It says a lot about Levi's game when he cant get an offer from an NRL club but it says heaps more when he isn't even getting offers from English teams .

I think it’s an attitude thing. He’d be an upgrade on what several NRL teams currently have imo.

It's Danny's ego that lets him down. I had a good chat with him up in Maitland one day and I asked about browny. His words were pretty much pfffft what would browny know about the hooking role.

Lino being encouraged to leave according to article in the herald today.
Article says his manager was contacted before the June 30 cutoff last season to say the club would release him if he got another deal, and the manager was told again even when Lino was playing well.
Article says Lino is determined to stay and his shoulder isn't as bad as thought and he should be fit by the start of the season.

What is the club's plan then? Sure Crossland & Sasagi might be the long term plan but O'Brien won't be playing them the whole season & we can't afford to be transitioning the five-eigth role all year especially if we're going out to compete for top 4 straight off the bat like he's said.

My guess is Watson will be at 6. If only he had a kicking game, he'd be threatening I think.

I don't like talking down Lino because he is clearly doing his best every game, but he is just better than Crossland and Searle right now and he is 6 years older than them and has done about 5 firstgrade off seasons.
I don't know if Sasagi will end up at 5/8 because he seems to have a lot of possible positions from wing to hooker, but if he turns into a big 5/8 like a Sutton or even a Weighton, he might go past them all.

Remind me again of the strong position Brown left us in. No top flight 5/8, too many hookers and cap pressure.

Ponga had a field day at 5/8 for the junior Kangaroos.
3 try assists
second only to papenhuysen for fantasy points
121 run metres
only 1 kick for 10 metres, but it wasn't a kicking sort of day when your team runs in 12 tries.

I'd have given him 4 or 5 try assists looking at the highlights.
