Adam O'Brien

Can't say I remember hearing of him. Legit. Has he thrown his hat in the ring before?

Can't recall hearing him chasing a top job before, even the Titans gig. But given his long-term experience under mainly Bellyache and the fact he came highly regarded I'm not overly concerned. Might be a more attractive proposition for prospective signings having him here rather than Brown.

What exactly has this O’Brian fella done in coaching?

I see a few people here are happy with the decision but I have no idea what credentials this guy has.

He’s been Bellamy’s apprentice for a decade and now a year under Robinson and everyone whose worked with him has him on high regard. Cronk came out and said he’s great at getting the best out of his players including junior talent.

I agree, his been assistant under 2 good coach's, one for 3 minutes, before this we never heard boo about the bloke yet people are falling over themselves with excitement.

With where we are at we should have went for someone with experience, even if it meant enticing a Maguire out of a contract and cost an arm and a leg.

Looks like Wests are trying to go cheap in this instance and I really hope it doesn't bite us in the back side.

I think his success will hinge on who we hire as the assistant coaches. Furner or Sheens for example would be valuable with their head coaching experience. O'Brien should be able to develop players and come up with more effective game plans than Brown did (particularly use of the bench).

He was going to be the Melbourne Coach if Bellamy Went to Brisbane . Think that says it all really

Some of the best minds in the game think very highly of him. Cronk and Bellemy have spoken very highly of him. I think it's obvious Glasby pushed hard for him (not saying he is one of the great minds, may well be I suppose, but he is supposed to be a big fan as well). I think the Knights are looking at a Robinson, Madge, Seibold type scenario where a guy who has done his time gets to put his stamp on a side. They/I hope O'Brien will be there in ten years with all the procedures in place for ongoing success, Bellemy, Robinson style. I've stated before I have no worries with him football wise and tactically. What he has no experience at is dealing with a board, sponsors, fans, the media etc. That's where he will be learning.

Dragons fan at work telling me they trying to get Flanagan there, and nrl considering letting it happen.

Knights would be firing a please explain to the nrl if that happened you would think.

Anyway, O'Brien is the coach for next year. Can only see how he goes now.

I've heard repeatedly what a nice guy he is........ We just sacked a nice guy. I really think we needed a whip cracker this time around.

Like I said hope I am mistaken and his the next big thing that's being predicted.

I heard Frank Barrett talking about him on the radio and he said that he’s a hard task master in the Bellamy mold. If you’ve ever listened to him commentate a Knights game you’ll see that he’s very reluctant to say anything to positive about the club so he must be a huge wrap on Obi.

Side note: I’m gonna call him Obi.
