The true story behind Brown's exit from Newcastle

We are pretty much in the same position we were this time last year and that really isn't good enough for a team with 6 players in the team currently REP level players, without counting indigenous reps.

Yes, how silly of me to suggest that actual coaching ability would be one of the parameters when reviewing coaches.

And so can a lot of other metrics. But keep arguing over the contents of a spreadsheet you've never seen.

Poor state of affairs when a head coach job is vacant and we have to go ringing people to see if they want to apply for it.

And if O'Brien was interviewed and following that they are now ringing people who never applied, not a good look for him.

Amateur hour again. That English guy wanted an interview!

I'm surprized, or maybe not surprized, that the press hasn't said a thing about Brian Canavan being the guy who is putting together these spread sheets, and is apparently the guy in charge of headhunting our new coach.
I'm surprized for the obvious reason that he is the guy doing the work.
I'm not surprized because he has a big reputation and many connections in the game, and no one in the media has the chops to be picking a fight with him.

Maybe they just genuinely want to interview a few different guys, doesn't have to be a slight on O'Brien. He could still be their main choice, but it doesn't hurt to talk to other people too just in case you're impressed by something you otherwise wouldn't have seen. English guy is too much of a risk, no experience with NRL, completely different game out here.

I disagree.

Brown has a 50% win strike rate in the two elite RL competitions in the World. O'Brien has a 0% strike rate in any competition that's a bigger risk than a known 50%.

In any case what I am saying is O'Brien isn't the only coach available. If Wests do truly have a spreadsheet with every possible replacement reviewed there is no way O'Brien can be top of the list, I realise many coaches won't be interested in the job but there is no way statistically based on a spreadsheet that O'Brien is the top candidate.

I don't have a problem with O'Brien getting the job, I actually posted on this forum at the start of the season the Knights should consider him as a replacement for Brown. What I don't like is the rubbish that it was all about a spreadsheet review.

There's no way Wests Group would advertise for a Head Chef then give the job to a bloke who only has experience as a kitchen hand so why ******** about all this spreadsheet stuff. If they believe going with a rookie coach like O'Brien is the way forward just come out & tell us & forget about the smoke & mirrors.
You are oversimplifying risk management/analysis to the extreme. To put it simply, based on your logic no new business would ever get work.

How about the players start showing they want to be here, coach less or not. I know for a fact the culture is no good. Got some Goss from inside about what some did after the loss last week.

Well you have to elaborate.

But For mine There is an obvious split in the group

seems they were smart enough not to record themselves if thats the case. if you think players across the league arent indulging in substances that leave their bodies in under 48hrs you are naiuve, its not a knights thing, its not an nrl thing.

Also for anyone still who thinks Paul Kent is a credible source of information for anything NRL related, let along Knights related, ill remind y'all of this:

Checkmate your honour!

Just as bad as Buzz whinging that Dragons fans were locked out a number of years back because they played at their suburban ground, then whinged about no atmopshere at ANZ because it was a third filled.
