Scott Dureau seemed disappointed with Best's 3 tries on the weekend - said he should have got 5 if they'd played a bit smarter.

Our lack of depth in centre/wing is a concern, lack of reserve graders allowed to play firsts.
Would we be better with Hunt at left centre and Mann on wing with Buhrer on bench to cover 9 or Best on wing with Mann on bench covering Best and Levi?

Mann isn’t a winger and surely teams know to target him there after the eels game

What?!? This isn't a lack of depth thing. Once Best is given his chance, he will demand selection week to week. Think Bronson Xerri. This guy is the future of the club. He may have been playing this week regardless.

Best has the body shape of Yates but runs like a damn bullet. Should go ok in attack. Haven't seen much of him defensively.

The dodgy hamstring should be the only issue with Best.
He basically has the build and power of a prop forward and the speed of a winger.
Pity he s only good for 10 games a year and rarely finishes a game, all because of injury.

Any idea what the kid's like off the field ?

I know his father, Roger Best, played for Manly and London and Bradman was a champion beach sprinter before he played RL.
It was reported in the pre season that he left school and moved to Newcastle to train fulltime, so he's giving it his best shot. If I remember correctly, he said leaving school was no big deal because he has always been more into sport than school anyway, so footy player seems to be all he is working towards.

Hopefully Bradman is actually as good as people are saying he can be. Far too many Newcastle juniors have been hyped up beyond belief, only to flop because the club doesn't know how to nurture juniors properly.
Look at Roberts, Stig, the Naiqamas (Wes was a Dragon I know) the list goes on and on.

I don't want to buy into Best too early, he could be a superstar in the making, but he's only 18 and a superstar isn't made at 18, if he can have a really good crack this week or until Moga is fit, I'm happy for him to then bide his time in CC until seasons end and fight to impress the new coach next year.

Looks like he might go alright running off KP

If a 6'4 110kg Fitzgibbon cant make it happen, i struggle to see how a 18yr old will.

Best thing I've seen all year from Ponga was last week running at the line in the right side, the rest is predicted easy by nrl coaches and players.

former Knight Sam McIntyre is in the Wests extended squad. Might be the first time for him.
