Knights possible targets for 2020

Either way I still giggle when I think of Peden and Kennedy using Taylor as a speed hump.

Hey another giggle.

David Faolongo. (You all know who I mean!)

Ahhh, gotta celebrate the good times :giggle:

If I remember correctly he was such a liability in defense the coach used to hide JT on the wing. If he wasn't so good in attack and lining up shots at goal you'd take him out behind the farm shed and come back alone.

In all honesty they should have told him to stand out of play and defend with 12.

But I have fond memories of Bears back in the day, they were my 2nd team and I enjoyed watching him play.

Barnett is the least of our problems.

The halfback who gets a million a year to play crap most of the time is a bigger issue. Our lack of outside backs. The coach’s inability to select the right squad or handle a bench rotation. Our badly regressing defensive efforts.

But by all means let’s blame it in a bloke who actually has a go.

I don't really agree with this. I think pearce's form this year warranted his selection in state of origin. He nearly sat out game 3 because of a groin complaint which I think has impacted his play since SOO. I think he has been one of the main reasons we have gone from wooden Spooners to pushing for a top 8 spot. I thinkthe is a nrl level halfback but I'm not sure barnett is a nrl level 2rf.. really think we would be better served with a high quality backrower to partner fitzy and some bench props that offer more impact. Klemmer and saifiti are great but there seems to be a massive dip in intensity when they go off.

I would like to see the following players replaced with 2 or 3 guns - Barnett, sione, Guerra, buhrer, mann, ese ese. I'd then like to hope some of our reserve grade props could push for a bench spot next year .. i.e. jsaf, momisoa (spelling), saulo, etc.

It wasn't long ago that we were on a 6 game winning streak and people were suggesting browny for coach of the year and Pearce for dally m.

His form was great in that 6 week period but he’s been poor prior to after that run.

He’s our marquee player and is getting paid accordingly. Having 7 good games and 10 average to poor ones doesn’t cut it.

Everyone except our players expected to get flogged. The Eels were nervous wrecks with the expectations of the media, all of Sydney and the usual BS mind games Smithy played on them, via text. GF eve they were not bunkered in a hotel doing game previews, but in their own homes.

Ask any of our players they came out of the brekkie hyped up and confident and the game plan run at Jason Taylor paid dividends.

I know he's under contract with Storm until end of 2020, but I'd love to see us go for Brodie Croft if Storm were happy to let him go. Storm have Papenhuyzen at 1, Munster at 6, Hughes at 7 and the two Smiths at 9, plus Billy Walters and others as cover in the spine. Croft would be worth a fair bit, so not sure if we could afford him. But we'd have some decent depth in the halves then with Croft and Crossland to partner Pearce. Watson and Mann to battle out for 14 jersey, and Watson is good cover at fullback should Ponga be out for some reason.

I pick the one where we beat the Brian Smith coached Parra in the 2001 grandfinal with a much weaker side, but a much better game plan - or maybe about 20 SOO games where Qld had all the answers and NSW had nothing.

I pick the one where Brian Smith got the Knights to win without Joey in his first game coaching them. Something Hagan could never figure out after 6 years.

Brian Smith got an Eels team to score over 900 points that year with Jason Taylor as the halfback. Would have gotten us scoring 2000 points if he coached Joey in his prime lol.

The myth that the Eels had a way better team that game for the Smith haters (like dipshits such as Buzz) when the Knights stomped them at home and lost 6 games where Joey didn't play.

Too many of our purchases were 'maybes'. Mann and Lino in particularly, Ramien we see the result, Moga and Griffin too much injury time with crook knees. Klem, Hunt and Watson great buys but we need a solid 5/8. Mitch just can't do all the play making on his own.

So next year we lose;

Eseese
Levi
Buhrer
Ramien
Woolford
Gavet
and possibly Guerra, SKD

we gain;
Brailey
and possibly Capewell

Any juniors capable of making the leap in your oppinion Roops?
If we had a coach who can develop young players, we have never had more talent - Hoy, Fermor, Jones, Andrews, Momoisea, Randall, Crossland, Croker, Huth - all could debut in round 1 next year if they had a great off season under a coach who is good at developing young players.

Any reason SKD won't get an extension? Of course he has the occasional moment where he'd like a do-over, but he gives everything and is always reliable making hard metres out of his own end.

I'd be disappointed to see him go, surprisingly even more than losing Guerra.

Won't surprize me if he gets a better offer.
If an ESL club offered him 3 years he'd be crazy not to take it.

RE SKD his getting on a bit isn't he? Could a youngster do his job and for half the price tag too?

That being said hope we keep him but on 12 month deals only.

Yep, you're absolutely right.

Experienced quality wingers don't seem to hit the market all that often so when they do they get snapped up and don't come cheap.
