Rumour: Cook linked to Knights

I'm very hopeful that Woolford will have a big year.
I've been a fan since I watched him almost single handed beat us in under 20s when he was at Canberra. In that game he was clearly the brains in the Canberra side, calling all the plays, kicking the goals, playing hooker, but moving to 5/8, lock and even running with the backs when he had to.
He showed with Canterbury last year that he still has a whole range of skills and abilities and is a very smart footballer as well.
All we are hearing about him in pre season training is that he showed up earlier than he had to and showed up really fit and ready to go hard. He has been one of the best trainers so far, and I'd say he hasn't eased off since the end of last season and is giving this pre season all he has to try to earn a spot.
I don't know how we'll use him, but he seems like a very versatile player we could use in a lot of different ways.

Ahh well Danny will not be happy. He must be behind fitness and training levels because of this year's back surgery.

Only reason woolford didn't debut this year was dogs had three or four players in their top 30 playing for other clubs, so no room for him.

Woolford will get his shot I am sure. As should Levi get his chance at it again. Griff may never get back to NRL, and if he does it may not be till 2020.

As this is about Cook, I don't see any point telling every prospect we have at hooker that their chances here are over with Cook arriving, also considering his price he would require.

Having said that we really do need someone to make that position there own if we are any chance of securing the premiership. Can't keep chopping and changing hookers all the time.

Find it strange we are having so much problem with hooker considering our coach is former hooker, lower grade coach, Kwhatever is ex hooker and Dan B helps out but we can't get it right. Hope we settle soon and decide its Levi or Woolford with Buhrer and Huth as backup, Watson if injuries happen and let's run with that, it can't be good for the team.

Disagree. Competition for spots is a good thing IMO. Not sure why it needs to be either Levi or Woolford but not both. One can start (likely Levi) and the other can be off the bench, if that’s the team selected.

Flannagan at the Sharks wont carry a hooker on the bench if he can get away with it .
I hate us carrying a hooker on the bench too , I would rather spend the money and buy an 80 min hooker ..
Side note.....I didn't know much about Segeyaro but he is not being re-signed and is looking for a contract apparently so not sure I would want him here if he isn't a good role model for our younger guys .

Bit of a risk signing a player like Cook for 5 years. One leg or groin injury and he'll probably never get the zip back and be just another hooker.

Reading a few articles, sounds like Bennett has really had a lot of restrictions put on him regarding the coaching staff particularly but also the retention of players as well.

Never rated Richardson but he seems like his not letting Bennett come in and run roughshed over the place.

Rabbits needed to keep him and it shows in his contract 900k a year for five years after having just had one season in his whole career were he was the first choice 9. The last two years I think will be the big question marks over that deal will Cook be as valuable a player at 31 as he is now.

He has hit the jackpot. No way should he of got that sort of deal after one successful season.

Good on him though. You take it while you can.
