Cory Denniss

Our system ? How many juniors over the last say 15 years have gone on to play rep footy from our Club as compared to our juniors that end up at other clubs ? I have no idea but it seems more common that a Knights junior who makes the grade has done it from somewhere else.
I would argue it's more accurate to say a hunter or a central coast junior has gone on to play well at other clubs. Also it did take a few years for the talent at Panthers to get to the point it is now. So I'd expect like it was for the Panthers that this first lot of talent to come through and move on from the club as we get better at developing our juniors.

Hahaha was literally about to ask if he has the same manager. Both of them need to get rid of him ASAP. He must be filling their heads with nonsense. Both are in no position to be knocking back offers and testing their worth.

Lamb looks to be losing 2-3 times the amount he was offered at the start of the year now.

I wonder how much Denniss will lose out because he certainly won’t be getting decent offers from rival clubs.

The Eels pulled an offer worth $105k which is amazing considering his manager was probably asking for at least $400k. His best option would be to take a 1-2 year gamble in the esl.

As for Denniss he is absolutely entitled to test his value on the open market like any player is but he isn’t exactly walking straight into first grade in many teams at the moment really.

Do people factor in as well that living in Sydney is a lot more attractive for young people? Kind of hard to keep a kid that wants to live in the night lights.

Don't know why we would need to choose between either, we have ample salary cap space and both of these would be bargain basement prices.

Sign both for depth whilst we develop a squad to the point we won't need them for depth any more.

I agree, it doesn't have to be one or the other. They play two completely different positions and we have plenty of cap space. Re-signing them both for depth wouldn’t be the worst thing. They’re cheap as chips at the moment and have no real negotiating power.

Reckon Denniss needs to go all Matt Cooper and bulk up. He's already a strong boy. Wouldn't hurt his confidence either.

I don’t think Dennis has showed anything whatsoever. What’s the potential?
He's 21 and playing first grade in the centres. So.. the thought is that he will be a good player in 2-3 years. I mean most 21 year Olds you don't know how they are going to turn out... They can suddenly turn the corner. Euan Aitken didn't look that good in his first year but he's starting to look good now...

Any revision Knighted after last night? He was not sighted all game, but that was the case with many of the chokers.

Alas Denniss is not NRL material and as long as he is picked this 'getting experience' will cost more and more games.

Aitken had some good runs but made some errors aswell. Gee dufty had a shocker..... Dragons have a great side but dunno how to use them. Seems they play for that blues jersey then take on there annual choke.

Well Denniss won't be in the NRL next year and will be toiling away in the lower grades next year. Which at the moment is where he should be. Again, I love this place that if a player isn't birthed from the lower grades an SOO ready player they are "Not NRL material" or"plod". Lamb was being touted as our permanent halfback solution last year and now, plod! Ross was a great winger and now many say he is reserve grade quality. Levi was fantastic last year and made Kiwi selection much celebrated on here and now cast aside by most here. Only reason he gets a run is injury to Griff.

Cogger initially git first grade this year and didn't set the Rugby League world on fire and was called plod, can the dogs take him now etc, yet since I think he has come along a bit more and has been having better games, a bit more quality touches etc.

Point is, it takes time to develop in to an NRL player. Lower grades cannot make you one other than to lay the platform.

In Denniss case, I also think he should bulk up somewhat and aim to take on a more power running game like Fergo and Oates.

Not really mate, objectively the potential is still there, my point was like Aitken it will take some time to manifest into something reasonable.
Don't get the wrong idea I'm not suggesting that either is or will be a world beater but simply answering the question about Deniss' potential...

Denniss along with about a dozen unsigned players will be signed or moved on, we have bought some backs this year so it's likely, if signed that Ross, Denniss and Sio will be reserve grade, back up for firsts rather than regularly selected, improves reserves and backup, much needed. If I was Naden, Allwood, Cronan etc I would be wondering where I might end up as u20 players look better potential, Gibbs, Andrews along with Hughes, we must strengthen our reserves to benefit our firsts.

Brent Naden has been one of our best Reserve grade players this year I would love to see him stay but I just can’t see him getting a run.

Haven't got figures but his last couple of games, which we won he missed more tackles than he made, nil tackles missed one and 2 tackles missed 4, I know stats aren't everything but not good figures, that might be why he is not getting a run.

I find it hard not to remember just how easily Ponga got past Naden time after time in our opposed sessions.
He was a star in under 20s, but defence is optional in under 20s, and I think he really needs to work on it. Everything else about his game looks good enough for firstgrade.

It's a pity Naden's defence is bad, because we always seem to be short of good centres

Yeah his stats are quite telling, his defence is very bad according to them & that's in reserve grade. No chance of playing NRL with those stats.

Any Knights' player that hits the open market automatically 'dreaming' or 'not NRL material'

Denniss kept Whare very quiet on the weekend, not bad considering Whare was un-touchable the week before.
