WARDLE SET TO FLY HOME?

It appears Newcastle forward Joe Wardle is looking to gain a release from his contract, despite the club saying otherwise.

Wardle joined the Knights at the start of the season from Huddersfield on a three-year deal, but he may be on the way out sooner than expected.

One Super League club who would be keen to pick him up is St Helens who is coached by former Roosters assistant Justin Holbrook.

“I know there’s a few clubs interested, but he’s still contracted with the Knights so there would have to be an arrangement done there,” Holbrook said.

“It just got flagged to us that he was looking to come home. I’ve been told there are a few clubs looking at him and it all depends — there’s a lot of things to be looked at beforehand.

“It wouldn’t be done this season, but he’s a quality player. It will all depend on how it all unfolds.

“It’s really early interest, but there’s nothing being nearly done with us.”

We'll release him, wont see first grade next yr anyway.
We have better options in centre and backrow for back ups them him next yr.

Bye matie and thanks for the heaps of nothing

His game against eels was better but seems to go missing a bit, no major mistakes that i recall, not fast enough for centre not strong enough for forwards, good reserve grade/backup, but yes we have better options, please sign Pete to go with new buys, not hearing any other prospects for centre.

Knights to release Joe Wardle

Wed 16th August, 05:00PM

The nib Newcastle Knights have granted Joe Wardle a release from the remainder of his contract.

Wardle, who joined the Club this season, will depart the Club at season’s end due to personal reasons.

“It is disappointing to lose Joe, but working through this matter together has delivered a positive outcome for the Club and for Joe and his family,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“For now, we look forward to having Joe with us for the remainder of this season.”

Wardle will return home and play in the English Super League.

“I would just like to thank Newcastle for helping me through this tough time and understanding my circumstances,” Wardle said.

“It was always going to be a tough task moving to the opposite side of the world with a young family and there was a chance it wouldn’t work out, which is unfortunately the case.

“The future of the Knights is definitely bright and I wish them all the best going forward.”

Im sure not a lot of people here or in general would be fussed losing Wardle considering he was the reason the Knights were able to offload Mamo.

I'm sure Joe realises he will struggle to get a start next year in 1sts so is looking to head back home. As above he allowed us to move Mamo on (Sorry Tas), he has served his purpose.

Thank you and good luck to Wardle.

Should I have a say, SKD centre and Sione outside him. Sione trimmed down say 8-10kg from the extra weight he put on to play back row, proper protein diet and speed training, he will regain his speed and agility.

He would only need to drop 4-5kg imo,
Id like him to still be that powerful runner on the wing.

So we are thinking.
1. Ponga
2. Sione
3. SKD
4. Moga
5. Ross
6. Watson
7. Lamb
This leaves Sio, Channel No.5 & Elliot in 2nd grade.
Ross played centres in City v Country.
I also like Channel as he brings the ball back hard.
Maybe an option could be:
1. Ponga
2. SKD
3. Ross
4. Moga
5. Channel
Sione to the bench as he can play backs and forwards.

Like to leave players in strongest, best suited positions, Ross and SKD wing, Moga and new signing (Pete?), don't weaken one spot to strengthen another.
