Darius Boyd set to leave the Knights at the end of this season

Darius' wife has closed her Newcastle business (although will still be an online store). All things pointing at Darius exiting at seasons end.

Yep that pretty much confirms it. That was the only thing that could've made him stay, but with it closed now it's bye bye Boyd.

It's kind of a shame his time here has ended in such disaster but I wish Boyd all the best.

I feel for the bloke, But I also feel for the fans of the club of whoever he signs for. It's evident that he never plans on staying in a place longer than his contract goes for.

Unless Wayne's there.

Unless Wayne's there.

Plus if Wayne's there he won't bother putting in half the time, but still be guaranteed a starting spot.

But he's parted ways with the mrs so that may just mean she is moving on, although I can't see him staying and as mentioned apparently he's told all staff and players he's moving on

Yep.

I know the guy has issues and my next comments have nothing to do with them, I expect him to put in many more pea hearted efforts for us and play like a lion for the aussies and maroons.

If Boyd stays, I hope he is only selected in first grade if his form warrants it. I would be not be unhappy if he played most of the year in the NSW Cup.

Word is he will be at the broncs, benny already moving players to accommodate for Boyd, more reason to hate broncos I say

I just hope he leaves, it will be such a massive downer if we find out he will be our fullback for 2015.

Broncos to clear $1 million under salary cap to make room for arrival of Darius Boyd

THE Broncos are clearing up to $1 million under the salary cap to bring Darius Boyd home with the Maroons ace a shock contender for the troublesome five-eighth position.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Brisbane are officially targeting Boyd, with Broncos players aware of master coach Wayne Bennett's desire to sign his protege.
Under the plan, Boyd is being considered as a five-eighth option, a scenario that would give Bennett the flexibility to deploy superstar recruit Anthony Milford at fullback.

It is understood Boyd's return to Red Hill is a fait accompli, pending his departure from a mental-health clinic, which he checked into last month to treat depression.

Bennett wants Boyd, whom he blooded as an 18-year-old, and off-contract prop Ben Hannant at Red Hill next season.

But the pair's signing hinges on salary-cap space, leaving Brisbane recruitment chief Peter Nolan to find the necessary financial latitude to afford both.

A key player in the contract machinations is George Mimis.

The NRL's leading player agent manages both Boyd and Hannant and has previously been engaged by Bennett to broker his coaching deals at the Dragons and Newcastle.

But Boyd's planned comeback will create some ructions, with the Broncos having to cut one backline star to accommodate the man spotted by legendary Broncos scout Cyril Connell.

Broncos utility Josh Hoffman is one player caught in the crosshairs. Brisbane are reluctant to lose Hoffman, but the Kiwi Test star can field offers from November 1 and has five clubs chasing him after requesting a release in December.

The Broncos can offload Hoffman more readily than Ben Barba, who has another two years to run on his deal and has less interest in the marketplace after a below-par season.

Hoffman has previously baulked at playing on the wing, but says he would have no problem moving to the flank to accommodate Boyd under Bennett's regime.

“Wayne is a great coach and he has his ways of moving players around,” he said.

“I just missed playing with Darius (in his last stint at the Broncos).

He was in Origin camp when I made my debut (in 2008) and in 2009 I was injured for most of the year, then he left in 2010.

“If he plays here, there's four fullbacks on the books but I have a lot of positions on my resume so wherever Wayne picks me I will do my job.”

There is no guarantee Milford will wear the No.6 jumper next season.

There are concerns about his frontline defence while Boyd played five-eighth as a junior and was once groomed as a possible successor to Darren Lockyer before joining Bennett at the Dragons.

Mimis declined to comment on Boyd's future due to his personal issues but hopes Hannant can remain at the Broncos next season.

“I have put that to Wayne and he is coming back to me,” he said.

“It's a little early in their salary-cap cycle in terms of what Wayne is going to do.

“Ideally he will stay, but at this stage I don't know, it depends on what decisions Wayne makes with the rest of the roster.”

Happy to eat my words, but by god this father son relationship is an embarrassment.

And the Bronco's looking at a marquee signing when they are under heavy investigation for Salary cap cheating????

I seriously hope Broncos get taken to the cleaners and they have to shed players and Bennetts left with a cluster **** of a roster.

Did I hear Mason say last night it's not really depression Boyd has but other issues ? He said he's been in touch regular with Boyd. I might be wrong but Willie Mason is the last person someone in rehab should be communicating with. Pretty ordinary rehab if you have a phone and using it at will.

He would be encouraged to stay in as much contact with friends and family as possible. Keeping people away from their support networks hasn't happened since the 70's.
Mason wouldn't have the first clue about what constitutes clinical depression.

Happy to see Boyd go, and if the earlier talk about Mason following Bennett comes to fruition, that would be great too.
