The only way we grow the international game outside of the Southern Hemisphere is by allowing players to fully open up their heritage for the World Cup only. I.e. someone like say Jamal Fogarty who's arguably one of the better halves in the comp but won't get a look in for any of the top 6...

PNG are well up for this. I think the only concern is their fitness, need to turn over more points because the NRL regular Samoan side will come home with a wet sail.

Lebanon really digging their heels in tonight. Still think it'll be a second half blowout but they've put in quite the effort.

He wouldn't survive a day coaching in the Penrith system

Enormous gap in quality between some of these nations at the women's World cup. Closest game decided by 6 points, the next closest decided by 40...

I went Prelim and GF too. The sheer euphoria of Sandon's intercept try is like nothing I've ever experienced in my life, following that with being up 12-0 just before half-time and thinking holy smokes we're actually going to do it in the GF. By far the best fortnight of rugby league I've ever...

Almost immediately eating these words. Cook Islands look hopeless with ball in hand.

Cook Islands rank outsiders but for some reason I feel they could pull something off here. Karmichael Hunt speaking pre game looked calm, they have a fairly athletic squad with some experience sprinkled through, and when these Pacific Island nations take the field they elevate to another level.

Ponga almost delivered a premiership off the back of blokes who wouldn't get a look in at the Roosters, Panthers, Warriors. A strong forward pack certainly lays the platform but get the team in winning positions with our edge to edge play style and Brown/Ponga will deliver in big moments.

Marzhew hard done by, think he's stacks better than Mariner
