John Morris
Roopy, are you sure he was a front rower? They showed him playing fullback for the Knights.
Yes he was a Prop, was being hailed as the next Cheif IIRC.

So his Dad forced him and he didn't want this or ?

well he was at least 17 when he was captain of flegg and at least 18 when he played firstgrade - which is 2 or 3 years after taking steroids apparently. That's actually not true. The Knights apparently signed him to a scholarship and said the only way he'd be playing FG in the near future is if he bulks up a lot, and Trent thought he'd just eat a lot and workout a lot, but his dad obviously had different plans and started injecting him with these animal steroids that made his body break down.
Yes he did.
That's so sad. I wonder if Michael Hagan knew this at the time which made him retire.
It's so sadjust thinking about it. Animal Steroids? The man should be punished.
He was a great player then - don't know what he was like pre roids.
The Knights sign heaps of kids to scholarships - and a hell of a lot of them would make the grade if they grew 15 cm and 8kg bigger.Obviously pretty good I'd imagine considering the Knights signed him to a scholarship.

Read my reply a couple of posts up AK.

One in ten make firstgrade - probably less - and the number who make firstgrade at 18 - Perry, Tahu, Quinn, Mullen, Esatheo - thats all i can remember.Yeah I know, but you're acting like they sign any old bum off the street to a scholarship. The kid obviously had talent seeing as though he got signed by the club in the first place. It's not like they hand these scholarships out at will to anyone who wants to be a Knight. They only recruit the kids who have talent and the kids who they think have the potential to develop into something down the track, which they obviously thought this kid had pre-steroids.

The Dad was just trying to live out his own failed sports career through his son. Sad, very very sad.
The bloke packing into the scrum next to him was Luke Quigley - add 15cm and 8kg to him and he plays for australia.I have no idea what you're talking about honestly. You were making out like this kid was some bum with no talent until he started taking these animal steroids. Sure, they obviously made him bigger, and most probably stronger and faster, but he was obviously talented seeing as though they signed him to a scholarship in the first place.
The bloke packing into the scrum next to him was Luke Quigley - add 15cm and 8kg to him and he plays for australia.
The guy packing into the scrum behind him was Blake Mueller - add 15 cm and 8kg to him and he plays for australia.
The guy feeding the scrum was Chris Tyrie - add 15cm and 8kg to him and he pushes joey out of firstgrade.
Do you even watch juniors. We have a dozen kids with the same story every year. They would all be fantastic on steroids.
You win cough*****wit*coughI have a feeling I know more about junior footy than you do looking at your posts. I don't care how big Quigley or Mueller are or any other examples of ex-fringe FG players you want to refer to, because the fact of the matter is, steroids can't give you talent, they just make you more physically gifted. Quigley at 15 cm's taller and 8 kg's heavier is not going to make him more talented than say Buderus or Smith. Period. Tyrie was not going to be more skillful than Johns if he was 15 cm's taller and 8 kg's heavier. Period. You need to have talent. It's no good if you look like Tarzen and play like Jane.
I'm sure the steroids are why Trent made a couple of FG appearances, but the fact of the matter is is that you never know what could've happened if he never took those steroids. As I've been saying, he obviously had some talent in the first place considering the Knights signed him. They didn't sign him because of his height and weight, because he didn't have that when they digned him, all he had was talent and potential in the Knights eyes.
