2026 - 2027 Summer of Cricket

This has been a quality period from smith and renshaw, just keep ticking the overs down. First job get to lunch, possibly another spell from either jansen or rabada. Balls near dead, goal is get to tea with these two and it would take a near miracle to lose the test. Id like to see us bat til the end of the test .. let em melt in the field especially now down a bowler.
 
Fyi konstas is 151* at end of play.
Give the saffas there dues they bowling well. I called the ball near dead then i watch careys first ball nip back a mile. Not good enough by us though.. issues start at the top. draw is still the result i think. If they enforce the follow on it HAS to be renshaw opening. They are gunna struggle backing up in the field again a bowler down... Is that more hope from me.. im not sure now

Konstas scored 71 in the first innings as well.

The selectors need to play him for at least all of the NZ series.

these shield wickets are flat as they have been in the last 10 years, everyone was getting runs and it was 2nd innings knock played more like an odi to force a result. Not exactly like for like as this test match if we comparing players.
If you give konstas a home summer you still cant take him to india straight after, and he doesnt have the game to get it done in the ashes (by all reports now bazball is dead new coach fleming wants traditionally green seemers back) .

The general public are gunna have a meltdown when peter handscomb likely gets a start in india 😂

The way these wickets are looking boland wont play a test id say unless its due to load management. Richardson probably going to be a better option anyway.
As much as you hate it Marnus will be 3 mate. His gunna have all summer to pile em on.
Marnus 3 and we may have a genuine shootout to partner renshaw id say.

If we keep giving promising players multiple test matches to prove themselves, sooner or later we will have someone much better than Marnus.

Hard disagree , you dont prove yourselves in test matches .. when your the best for the job you get the job. Make the selectors unable to ignore you in shield.
 
Yeah maddinson will go. its not out of the realms of possibilities marnus will open.

marnus looked pretty decent once again in that 2nd dig until he forgot we are trying to save a test and trying to put the spinner into the ocean wasnt needed. I actually think he saw harmer as an oppurtunity to power through the 40s where its all been falling apart for him.

how goods test cricket though, t20 can never produce the rollercoaster of emotions a test makes you feel.
