I understand where you’re coming from, i just don’t agree. It’s still not going to stop teams resting players and if they are in the position to do so, then that’s is their benefit for how their season has goneIt’s not just concussion. Resting players. It gives all the teams a rest for the “new comp” For half of the 8 it’s do or die. It increases the chances of side fielding there strongest squad.
The Storm now go into a finals game missing one of there best players. How would you feel if Ponga got a concussion and couldn’t play the next game that is a finals game.
I’d be perfectly fine with it, upset and annoyed, but fine with it if we lost Ponga to concussion/injury or any other player for that matter, and they missed a final or grand final because of it. For me it’s a collision sport, injuries are part of it, unfortunately
I don’t see it any different to the rest of the season. We lost Ponga, Lucas and Sharpe half way through the season. It just comes down to the timing you get the injuries and the depth of your squad. Our injuries meant we didn’t have a chance to make the finals, Melbourne’s mean they will be under strength in the finals. Injuries can happen at any time during the season.
Not to be argumentative, but what would you do if the same thing happened the week before the grand final? It’s just really bad luck and luck is one part of winning the competition IMO
If teams want to rest their players, then that’s a different topic. All teams could do exactly what Penrith and Canberra have done. Melbourne usually do it as well. They didn’t this year because they played so poorly last week
