It has now 20 years since we won the premiership. We won 2 in our first 14 years and then nothing.

Hopefully 2023 or 2024 will be our next premiership.

We could end up being like the North Sydney bears, 2 premierships in the first 14 years of existence, then nothing for the next 80 years, we’re forced to merge with Manly and then completely fold.

Given the location & history, it's hard to see Newcastle folding, but we're definitely going down the path of clubs like Parramatta, who haven't won a premiership in forever. Cronulla had never won one until a couple years ago. It's not impossible, just have to get the right players & luck together. That's the only thing that keeps me going after all these years of missing out, wooden spoons, bowing out after a week of finals. One day. 😓

Just kidding, well maybe a little bit

Financially we are strong now with the support of Wests, we will soon have a centre of excellence and we have a good quality stadium to play at (post COVID).

We just need a team that can build to win a premiership.

I've definitely reached the point where I've started hoping it's within my lifetime ...

To those commenting back to me in the last page. I don't know how I haven't expressed myself well but I haven't cos people think I'm down on the team.

I'm feeling pretty good about where we got to but know we have way more to offer. The attack was much better but still a long way from a top 4 performance. The players we have, keeping most of the squad together and realitvely injury free will lead us to having a much stronger cohesion next year.

I wasn't disappointed by the ending - was glad we got to where we did and put up a damn good fight

Meanwhile us older members who saw both 97 and 2001 are starting to get on a bit, but still have the same thought, will we see another.

Must suck being a Roosters or Melbourne fan. All that winning takes the enjoyment out of it i'd expect.
