November 1 - targets for 2021 and beyond

Broncos have an interesting situation with bird, Boyd, and Milford taking up similar cap space to Cronk, keary and tedesco. Wouldn't want to get into a bidding war for someone like fafita but if we could have some luck with someone like staggs or flegler it would be nice.

I had a look at the list of off-contract players. Wouldn't mind feldt or vunivalu.

So I guess I'd love:
In: staggs, feldt, vunivalu, flegler,
Out: Guerra, sione, Barnett, Mann, moga, maybe Lee.

1. Ponga
2. Feldt
3. Staggs
4. Hunt
5. Vunivalu
6. Fogarty
7. Pearce
8. Klemmer
9. Brailey
10. Dsaf
11. Fitz
12. Fermor/Jones
13. Glasby

14. Watson
15. Jsaf
16. Ese Ese
17. Flegler

For mine, I'd say yes to Staggs but realistically, that'd probably be all from that list that we'd have space for. I'd be happy to let Moga and Mann go if they can find better deals elsewhere, but I doubt another club would take on either at this point. Moga has a long history of injuries and for Mann, they'd have to offer him at least a 2-year deal to be worth his while seeking a release from us.

My lineup (if we picked up Staggs - which I doubt we will) would be:

1. The Pong
2. Lee/Hoy
3. Best
4. Staggs
5. Hunt/Starford
6. Lino/Crossland
7. Pearce
8. Klem
9. Brailey
10. DSaf
11. Fitz/Fermor/Jones
12. Barnett
13. Herman

14. Watson
15. Glasby
16. JSaf
17. Saulo

Reserves:

18. Guerra
19. Sione
20. Mann
21. Moga

Sorry man but your team would run pretty close to the bottom 8. Kyle Feldt......for Lee LOL

If our coach is any good he won't need to buy players that other clubs release.
As always, the trick is to not pay overs so you get value out of the salary cap.
The only reason to buy players is if we have a real shortage in a position.

Looking across the grades, we have a million forwards, we have hookers in all grades that play for NSW, we have some quality halves, we have fullbacks for the next 10 years.
The only area we seem to be struggling, if you don't count Best and Toa, is outside backs. No wingers really stand out at all.

If O'Brien looks across the grades and looks at where he needs to bolster the ranks, I'd say he should be looking for the best young wingers going around.

If im right next season is Moga's last , if he stays fit expect him to have a big season . He will need it for his next contract where ever that may be , not here i'd bet.

Still staggered that people don’t rate Barnett. In what way is Fitzgibbon a better player?

Maybe it's just the side of the field he plays but love those attacking sets down the left side off ponga and the lines he runs.

Not a lot of it in 2019 sadly. Barnett had it over him in attack and that’s without Ponga feeding him the ball.

Fitzy was mediocre this year. Get the feeling now the opponents no to watch out for his line running he doesn't have anything else to offer in attack.

Barney is great people are kidding themselves, and is our only forward that can ever lift the team with a big run or hit.

Interview with Joey Manu yesterday saying he would go to the open market to test his worth, but that doesn't mean he will leave the Roosters. He'd be awesome for us, but if not him, if his price bumps up a bit it might shake someone loose like a Nat Butcher. Hopefully Obi has made a big impression there and some of those guys would like to play for him in the future.

I can't be critical of either of them. I think Fitz made a conscious effort to up his workrate, which might have come at the expense of a dulled attack. I think he made a lot more runs coming out of our end though. Barnett at times suffered from the shamozolle that was taking place out side of him. Overall, our left side operated a lot better than our right side, but Barnett's efforts were very good. I think they both give Obi something to work with.

Reportedly looking at getting $550k for the Roosters I'd suggest it would take $700k for him too at us, is he really worth $700k to us?

Think spending 700k on a centre is a luxury we can't afford. Centres have the least impact on the game of any position these days, unless they are flat out bad.

Someone like Hunt gives you 75% of Manu for a third of the price.
