That seems like a media beat up.

I don't agree with all this kicking the guy while he is down.

I'm not a fan of Brown as a coach, but he did some good and some bad things.

He's gone now, so all I have to say is, good luck in all his future endeavours

It's taken a different turn this week, it's all about how we're spearing a great man down & how evil the Knights are. And sure, there might be truth to the board going behind his back and/or a player revolt, but at the end of the day, Browny couldn't get the team to the next level. Finals really was a minimum this year & to bow out the way we did is unacceptable. This was a decision that needed to be made to create some stability & confidence in players going forward when big names are coming off-contract.

The team was expected to be in the 8 or at least play like they were, and it was round 20 whatever and it wasn’t the case.
That’s on the coach and there wasn’t really any big injury excuses in comparison to last year when aPearce and Watson were injured for significant lengths at different times.
Even Gardner admitted that.

The club had no other choice.

Sometimes the simplest explanation of things are the most accurate.

The media have no clue what goes on behind the scenes based off making up things out of thin air in the past and this is no different

one things for sure, the club telling us they had to now find a coach was all bullsh**.
cant recall where i read it but it mentioned david furner as a possibe assistant aswell. do we no what sort of coaching staff changes we are looking at? anyone put there by browns instruction may be in trouble

Most likely and whats your point though? Any new coach coming in should be able to put his people around him, or keep people on or not. No point in any of this otherwise.

Same as the fans having a say was ********, interviewing widely was ******** etc etc.

I could care less as long as it leads to a stronger Knights.

About time we had an organisation that expects results and isn't afraid to move someone on if they aren't getting them. We have been a club that has settled for mediocrity for far too long.

Looks like my ******** is stronger than yours. :giggle:

i want a successful team first and foremost and i wish obrien the best andi agree with your post, but its just a slap in the face to the supporters to expect us to believe brown just new his time was up and it was time to step aside and dropping it at that time was the best thing for the club like they made out in the big press conference the day after it broke.
there is no sporting organisation in the world that would drop this the week leading up to a do or die match, theres no coach that would want out when he is 3 games away from his goal. theres more at play here

Interesting times ahead for this new rookie coach(if rumours are true), the way Pearce and Ponga spoke when Brown got sacked and before that senior players telling Brown to get rid of Jessie, makes me think who is in charge the players or head coach.
Then next season we put a rookie coach in charge, not to mention Ponga asking for contract upgrade next season lets see how the new coach handles it, not just nrl level coaching but all the pressure from the demanding players.
I hope I'm reading too much between the lines with what's happened, and hope next season knights just get back into finals mentality, fresh new coach with better game plans etc

No doubt there is. But it's really none of anyone's business than Wests and Brown. I think the media are frustrated that they're not getting any better insight than the general public, and they feel entitled to it. Joey Johns talked about how there are things happening 'behind the scenes'. It's not behind the scenes - they're just running their business however they please.

We wanted Wests to come in and run the joint professionally. Can't complain when they do exactly that.

That's really encouraging.
Having watched many of the opposed sessions last year, the thing I liked least about Brown's style was the way he concentrated on coaching a core of maybe 10 or less of his favoured players, and all the other guys were there as bit players, which is one of the reasons no one seemed to progress at the speed you would hope to see.
Cronk saying this guy is a workaholic who puts extra time into every player in the squad gives me a lot of hope that we see talented athletes like Star Toa, Brad Best, Beau Fermor, Crossland and Hoy all develop rapidly next year.
I don't think they would under Brown.
I hope they will under this new guy.

Those 3 from reserves and Jones really need that otherwise I reckon they'll go by the wayside but some hard decisions will have to be made including who to play FB...KP, Toa or Hoy. I'd be going Toa with KP at 5/8

Did'nt we already try KP at 5/8 and it didn't work as soon as he went back to f/b he looked heaps better.

I wouldn't say it didn't work. With better coaching it could a success. For mine it comes down to Pearce not playing all over the park and having at least 1 ball playing forward, not just hit up merchants. What do you do with guys like Toa and Hoy, tell em to go elsewhere, no spots here?

toa and best to compete for a wing and centre spot with skd.
Hoy to battle it out for 5/8 or fb
Just because you have players in waiting doesn’t mean you have to move them on

I wouldn't say there's a lot of competition for 5/8 and I'm sure there'd be plenty of clubs interested in Toa and Hoy.

Sheens and Hagan no way José!

Whom ever Wests appoint has got to be good enough to be his own man. It worked well at Penrith with Phil the Dill didn't it?
