Knights possible targets for 2020

I'm not saying sign Crichton, but surely we can sign or develop a better player than Barnett. Having Barnett as one of our first choice backrowers is a sign of the malaise this club is in.
Barnett is the least of our problems.

The halfback who gets a million a year to play crap most of the time is a bigger issue. Our lack of outside backs. The coach’s inability to select the right squad or handle a bench rotation. Our badly regressing defensive efforts.

But by all means let’s blame it in a bloke who actually has a go.

Our issues with Pearce, Brown, our lack of outside backs and poor defence are genuine issues. But I think we need to find a better player than Barnett as well.

The squad Brown put together is good enough.
If we had a coach who could make game plans and get the most out of a squad, like a Mal Rielly or a Michael Hagan, this squad could go pretty far.

We have shown the side is good enough at times, it's lacking confidence and a bit of mental toughness is the big issues. Not sure if Brown knows how to turn that around though.

I would say our squad is Top 6-8. We need a better 80 min Hooker, decent 5/8 at least and probably another decent 2nd rower to be Top 4. And we need to be a Top 4 squad to be a chance of a premiership.

Michael Hagan LMAO

Give Brownie Joey Johns and he'd probably have a premiereship too.

Hagan was very successful when he had a good squad.
He was bad at cap management - partly because he had to keep Johns, no matter how much it cost.
He was a huge part of Qld being successful for a decade, and is currently assistant coach for Australia.
In short, He is a winning coach at many levels because he can make a game plan that works and get players working to their strengths.
He wouldn't take on a club role now, but you can bet they'll never be asking Brown to work with NSW or Australia.

No coach was the reason for QLD’s success no matter which way you want to try and put it.

Smith, Cronk, Slater, JT, Inglis, price, Civo and Scott were the backbone to that dynasty.

Any joe blow could of “coached” that side to the series wins.

Michael Hagan. Game plans. Pick one.
I pick the one where we beat the Brian Smith coached Parra in the 2001 grandfinal with a much weaker side, but a much better game plan - or maybe about 20 SOO games where Qld had all the answers and NSW had nothing.

There’s no way we had a weaker team than Parramatta in 2001. Forwards were relatively even with theirs slightly better than ours. Our backline was way better than theirs though.

If Joey didn’t hurt his knee and miss 8 weeks mid season we’d of gone close to getting the minor premiership off them.

You might not have seen the game if you think the knights had the weaker side. Everyone in the starting 13 other than Rudder, Parson and Peden played Origin.

Parra better, LOL.

Parra were close to the most dominant side I've ever seen.
In the last rounds of the comp Brian Smith was deliberately playing 12 men on the field just to practice winning if they got someone sent off.
We were long odds to make the final, and a million to one to win it.
You guys are re writing history.
Parra fans were already celebrating the win before the kickoff because they thought all they had to do was show up.
Parra ended the season on 42 points - 9 points above us and 5 points above second placed Bulldogs. They had a for and against of +433, which meant they averaged more than double the score of their opposition, and they rested a heap of players and played around with their on field line up, just because they could and still win at a canter.

Billy's right guys you have short memories, we were expected to get flogged, Parra were Melbourne like they were considered that good.

Fortunately for us they were asleep for 40 mins and we piled on the points and they never recovered.

It’s not rewriting history it’s true. With Joey we were a better side than Parra that year. We played them twice with Johns in the side and won both comfortably (I consider the GF comfortable as we clocked off with 10 to go as we were never going to lose).

Not saying that Parramatta weren’t a great or dominant side but we were better.
