2019 Casualty Ward

Give Korbin more game time I think was one of Brisbane's best players last night.

Scored a good try, made 25tks 0 missed, 3 offloads, 2 try saving tackles.
Gave away 3 penalties, though imo all 3 were the refs keeping the broncos in the game more then Korbin doing dumb chit.

Won't be an easy game, funny how things change quickly in the NRL, some people here were talking about being 6-0 lol

Casualty Ward: Inglis, Burns double blow for Bunnies

NRL.com
Sun 31 Mar 2019, 08:42 PM

Young gun Braidon Burns limped off ANZ Stadium on Sunday to compound the pre-game loss of Rabbitohs centre partner Greg Inglis.

Souths coach Wayne Bennett said Burns suffered damage to his left hamstring and ankle problem during the win over the Titans. He left the sheds on crutches with his upper leg strapped while also wearing a moon boot.

Bennett was unable to say how long Burns would be sidelined but said Inglis, who has a shoulder problem, could be back for Saturday's clash with Manly.

The Roosters look to have paid a heavy price for their 32-18 win over the Eels with co-captain Jake Friend re-injuring his shoulder and prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves suffering rib cartilage damage.

Friend returned after missing the round two win over Manly but lasted only half an hour before he was forced to leave the field after hurting his shoulder making a tackle.

Waerea-Hargreaves left the field early in the second half and did not return.

Halfback Cooper Cronk is expected to return next week from the hamstring injury which has kept him sidelined for two matches.

Cronulla have been dealt a double blow with Matt Moylan (hamstring) and Paul Gallen (rib) injured in their big win over North Queensland on Saturday night.

Casualty Ward: Roberts out, Walker adds to Rabbitohs worries

Dan Walsh & NRL.com
Tue 2 Apr 2019, 12:33 PM

Brisbane will be without speedster James Roberts in Thursday's blockbuster against the Roosters due to his ongoing Achilles issues.

Roberts has carried the issue for some time and is regarded as a week-to-week prospect at the Broncos, with Kotoni Staggs coming in at right centre for a daunting match-up with Tricolours star Latrell Mitchell.

Cooper Cronk is expected to overcome hamstring tightness to return for the Roosters at the SCG, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves also expected to play through the pain of rib cartilage damage.

Jake Friend though is facing another week on the sidelines after his recurring shoulder injury flared up against Parramatta.

Meanwhile South Sydney's star five-eighth Cody Walker is nursing a shoulder issue ahead of Saturday's clash with Manly to add to the Rabbitohs already worrying injury toll.

Walker copped a heavy knock in Sunday's win over the Titans and will be monitored throughout the week, with Souths already missing Braidon Burns (hamstring and foot issues) and unsure whether Greg Inglis(shoulder) will return against the Sea Eagles.

“Cody got caught in an awkward tackle and jarred his shoulder," South Sydney head of high performance Jarrod Wade said.

"He played on, had some pain medication throughout the game, finished the game but was quite sore.

“We expect he’ll miss training early in the week and we’ll see if we can get him into some contact work later in the week in order to play on the weekend.”

Walker and Inglis will be named in Tuesday's 21-man squad, but untimely injuries to back-up halves Adam Douehi (ACL), Connor Tracey (shoulder) and Dean Hawkins (ankle) have further stretched the club's playmaking stocks.

Both Tracey and Hawkins are only slated to return via Canterbury Cup this week, while veteran John Sutton shapes as another five-eighth option if Walker is ruled out later in the week.

Burns is facing at least a month out with a hamstring strain, while he will require further scans on a foot injury having been cleared of a fractured ankle.

Inglis will have to get through Wednesday's contact training session to prove himself fit to return against Manly.

Casualty Ward: Trbojevic, Sims, Napa, Woods face lengthy layoffs

NRL.com
Mon 8 Apr 2019, 03:33 PM

Manly's elation at coming off back-to-back wins over the Warriors and Rabbitohs has been tempered by news that star fullback Tom Trbojevic will miss at least six weeks with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

Trbojevic had returned with a dazzling display in round three from a hamstring problem but went down in the first run of the second half at Lottoland last Saturday.

The Sea Eagles confirmed on Monday that scans had ruled the Blues Origin star out for at least six weeks and possibly up to nine weeks.

Sharks prop Aaron Woods is also facing a lengthy layoff after suffering a broken foot in the loss to Parramatta on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.

Woods will visit a surgeon on Monday to determine the extent of the injury suffered in the second half of the 24-12 defeat.

The worst-case scenario for the Kangaroos forward is that he will be sidelined until round 16 in July, which would rule him out of making a return to the State of Origin arena after he was not selected last year before making the Australian squad at the end of the season.

Sharks five-eighth Shaun Johnson was a late scratching from the team to face the Eels at ANZ Stadium. The Kiwi veteran has a quadriceps injury and had his place taken in the starting side by Kyle Flanagan.

Paul Gallen missed the match with a rib injury while Matt Moylan is out for a month with a hamstring tear.

Meanwhile, Korbin Sims suffered a broken arm for the Dragons against the Knights on Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium in his second game for the club.

Sims played on despite the pain for around 15 minutes before he was replaced at half-time.

Scans have revealed Bulldogs prop Dylan Napa suffered a grade two syndesmosis injury in the nail-biting loss to Melbourne and will miss 5-6 weeks.

Casualty Ward: Bateman to miss at least five weeks

NRL.com
Mon 6 May 2019, 10:01 AM

In a blow for the high-flying Raiders, English international John Bateman will miss at least five weeks with a fractured eye socket.

His time on the sidelines may be longer if it is decided he requires surgery.

Bateman, who suffered the injury in Saturday's win over Penrith, is expected to meet with Raiders medical staff on Monday.

Meanwhile, Dragons playmaker Corey Norman is facing a month on the sidelines after suffering a suspected fractured cheekbone in the loss to Parramatta on Sunday.

St George Illawarra forward Tyson Frizell's eye injury is not expected to be serious and he's a fair chance of suiting up for Sunday's Magic Round meeting with the Warriors at Suncorp Stadium.

Meanwhile, Panthers enforcer Viliame Kikau left the field in Saturday's clash with Canberra with a potentially serious knee/ankle injury.

Isaah Yeo (shoulder) and Malakai Watene-Zelezniak (ribs) also suffered injuries for Penrith during the 30-12 loss in Wagga Wagga.

Already without halfback Daly Cherry-Evans for at least a month, Manly lost fellow playmaker Lachlan Croker to a hamstring injury on Saturday night.

Sea Eagles prop Addin Fonua-Blake also requires scans on a knee injury.

Casualty Ward: Lam suffers untimely break, Hampton's long lay-off confirmed

Dan Walsh & NRL.com
Mon 20 May 2019, 02:29 PM

Roosters rookie Lachlan Lam has suffered an untimely broken wrist that will rob him of valuable game time across the Origin period.

NRL.com understands that Lam is facing 4-6 weeks on the sidelines after copping the injury playing for feeder side North Sydney on the weekend.

Touted as Cooper Cronk's successor next season, Lam loomed as Luke Keary's obvious replacement when a likely NSW Origin call-up comes his way.

The Roosters' round 12 bye and the stand-alone Origin II fixture do favour the Tricolours, who are expected to have Keary, James Tedesco, Boyd Cordner and Latrell Mitchell involved in this year's series.

Lam's current recovery timeframe could have back in time to cover Keary's potential absence for game three.

Meanwhile the Cowboys are reeling from another backline blow, with Ben Hampton out for between three and four months due to a ruptured biceps, an injury timeline that potentially ends his season.

He joins Nene Macdonald (broken ankle) on the sidelines for an extended period, while Te Martin is still out indefinitely after revelations he suffered a bleed on his brain earlier this year.
