Your team for 2019

Not getting Scott, Bird, Blair, Jennings, etc has been a major blessing for us. I’m creaming myself at the thought of next season.

What I think will be our Starting 17 v What I think would be our best 17 is different but either way we'll have a very good looking side come round 1.

My Side

1. K.Ponga
2. S.Kenny-Dowall
3. J.Ramien
4. T.Moga (H.Hunt)
5. E.Lee
6. M.Lino
7. M.Pearce
8. T.Glasby
9. D.Levi
10. D.Klemmer
11. A.Guerra
12. L.Fitzgibbon
13. H.Ese'ese

14. C.Watson
15. S.Mata'utia
16. J.Gavet
17. D.Saifiti

18. M.Barnett
19. J.Saifiti

Still would like to move on Rossy or Levi and bring in a better 5/8 who can goal kick but that's how I'd like to see the side lineup.

Remember last season how excited everyone was and now we've added Klem, Ramien, Lee, Glasby and Gavet to the side !!!!

This shows the magnitude of the player turnover in recent seasons. Out of the four guys remaining from the start of the cull in 2015, Fitzy is probably the only one who's position is all but guaranteed in the 2019 top 17.

From then to now: Startling numbers show Nathan Brown’s ruthless rebuild at the Knights

"From the 30 players used in 2015, only four remain at the club — Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Danny Levi, Nathan Ross and Sione Mata’utia.

In the years between 2015 and 2017 the Knights released, didn’t re-sign or retired 74 players who had played first grade during those three seasons.

From the 2018 roster, the Knights have either released or have not yet re-signed 21 players.

That’s a whopping 95 players who have passed through the club in the four years since 2015."

The best thing now when we have an injury or one of the younger guys is playing out of there skin we can bring them into an experienced side that is hopefully going well.
Will be a lot better for there development then bringing them into a side of other young kids and reserve graders and getting belted.

My worry is for Brown's sanity.
How he will be able to cope with not churning through 15 or 20 players next season is anyone's guess, although I do expect he'll be able to sack all of reserve grade - that might keep him happy.
As I've said before, these days he is sacking players he recruited.

Well, there's probably not too many average and poor players left in any of the grades, as they've all been cleared out.

It's ok for a coach to move on a player he brought in, I'd be more worried if he kept picking the same guy just because he was too stubborn to drop him.

I'm a bit worried Sione will get 'lost' in the side now as it looks like he won't be starting, I think if he started in the back row he would have had a great year with this new side, time will tell how he will go coming off the bench trying to make an impact??

Big season ahead for him.

The players he signed earlier were the best options available at the time, either from a salary-cap perspective or a willingness to come here.

It's a similar deal to buying and selling property: buy what you can afford at the time, upgrade when you've got the budget.

No doubt Brown shares the same frustrations Knights supporters have, having to upgrade the roster in this way.

But now we have a squad that has a very real potential to challenge for a premiership over the next couple of years, and I expect that more of the stop-gap players will move on along the way.

or,
he can't improve players, so just churns through them in the hope he'll get lucky. He now seems to be recruiting older and more experienced players, so they might be the ones he can actually work with, ie, ones who have already been coached to a decent level of competency.

You do remember that Sione suffered such bad head injuries he nearly had to retire right which is why we reinvented the team to move him out of harms way last time he played in the backrow.

I still lol @ his first 16 rounds in defence running out of the line like someone jumping the fence and doing a nudie run at the cricket last year, we finally solved that by moving a bloke half his size with a bad shoulder in defence to do his job so he stopped getting shown up.

I wonder what the excuse will be this year for Sione if he fails to perform?

Whens the last time Sione added value to the team and wasn't a liability, legit question?

For me when he was on the Wing under Bennett?
