2018 Newcastle Knights Awards

I think Billy still has not caught onto the fact that Watson was brought to the club to be a running 5/8, not a playmaking 5/8. In one ear, out the other.
I heard it. I understood what was said. I dismissed it as a stupid idea.

What about a running 5/8 who is also an exceptional playmaker?

For me Ponga, Pearce, Guerra, Herman, Griffin and Fitz were clearly the best performers this year.

The next tier under that was Dan, Watson, SKD and maybe Sio.

The rest have plenty to work on.

Well we’ll have to move on and deal with it until the end of 2020 and possibly beyond, unless of course Brown shifts Ponga to 5/8 permanently and uses Watson elsewhere. But we were starting to see the ability Connor has, especially alongside Pearce, before groin issues hindered his game.

I think I like plan "A" better than plan "B", that is Ponga 1, Watson 6, Pearce 7, Levi 9, lets see how that works and move it around or replace if required, haven't really given it a real chance and with our improved backline and possibly new big forwards just might be ok.

You missed the ‘ne’ at the end of Sione mate.

Combining the highlights of Sione and Sio's season would probably add up to a decent reel for a consistently performing player.

Both had plenty of memorable moments, but also too many defensive brain farts to consider this season as anything above a pass.

Hope they take some confidence into the offseason and come back more rounded players next year.

Sione's game improved once the ?? over his future was cleared. I think anyone who can't acknowledge the improvement during the back half of the season isn't fair dinkum.
