Rumour: Knights chasing Troy Dargan

Dan Tolar
Broncos tipped to lose young gun

The Broncos have signed one of the best young halves in the game in Roosters rookie Sean O’Sullivan - but may be about to lose another.

Former Australian Schoolboys and NSW under-20s halfback Troy Dargan - who has been in the Broncos’ 24 man NRL squad a couple of times this season, is talking to the Knights - and may switch there for next season.

Raw but with plenty of ability, Dargan starred for the Blues in this year’s under-20 Origin series and the Knights see real potential in the kid.

At 20, he can play both halfback and hooker and is an Eels junior who was snapped up by the Broncos this year.

Reckon we'll show any interest in Munster for 2020? My guess is probably not, but stranger things have happened...

very ordinary stats. tackle efficiency of 74% at qld cup level. and the same size as Tom Starling according to his profile
Shocking numbers in some games, Round 22 is just about the worst numbers I've seen at any level

Round 11 vs Ipswich - Made 9 missed 4
Round 15 vs Tweed - Made 8 missed 4
Round 16 vs Magpies - Made 13 missed 6
Round 17 vs Burleigh - Made 11 missed 7
Round 18 vs Capras - Made 10 missed 4
Round 20 vs Easts - Made 15 missed 4
Round 22 vs Tweed - Made 6 missed 10

All up he has made 198 tackles and missed 60, That's an average of 10.4 tackles a game and 3.1 missed per game

I don’t watch any QCup so I have no idea what to make of his figures, given in the previous 20s comp tackles were rarely made by any one , so maybe a missed tackle at least shows he has a go.

Given He did play Blues 20 half this year some one in the know must hold him in high regard, if he is deemed the best of the new brigade then I rechon he has some chance here at the right price with proper preparation and development.

Tom Starling is the same age.
Last year Tom was tackling at over 90% efficiency in NSW cup.
This year he hurt his shoulder and missed a few games, and when he came back his tackle efficiency dropped to around 80%, so considerably better than this guy, even when injured.
Haydon Loughrey is another small half of the same age we gave 5 games of NSW cup this year. I watched about 3 of those games and he was targeted and tried to hide in defence, but still made about 20 tackles a game at 82% efficiency, mostly against the big forwards who were really looking for him.
Hazard, another small half/hooker we picked up from Qld cup, has been injured most of the season, but his tackle efficiency is just under 90% still.
I'd rather give Hazard another year I think.

I know on here people knock the "local" theme but at least you know what your getting. Playing for state in u20s has been done by locals in past, am reasonably sure both Cogger and Lamb represented and Meaney and we have let them go.

More worried about knocking any sign of an 'import'. To get the best possible tam on the paddock requires both these days.

He has **** defensive stats.
He has Beau Henry written all over him.
You don't have to be a good defender to do well in under 20s.
A lot of guys can't make the jump to seniors, and those Qld cup stats say this kid can't.

Im getting worried that our depth will be worse next year compared to this season, which is very concerning because we have no depth as it is.

Losing Cogger & Lamb and for Dargan is an overall loss as much as we've been disappointed with how Cogs & Lamby have been this year.

Plus losing Meaney holds us back from from moving Ponga into halves if needed.

I know we're holding out for 'the right players' but we need some decent squaddies for backup.

It is concerning and we have two props retiring a area we already lack depth. Second row, wing and center we are sorted.

I disagree about the back row, I would have liked us to have a crack at someone like Ryan Matterson or Jayden S'ua to partner Fitz in he back row.

It will be a decision out of Barnett, Sione or Stone to start round 1 next year, solid but I feel we could have upgraded in this area.

Guerra? Along with Fitz, Sione, Barnett, Stone with Glasby at 13 we are ok I think

Looking at our prop rotation at the moment Glasby will be starting front row and either Aiden or Barnett lock. Yes if we sign 3 more good props then we could look at Herm or Glasby at lock.

Still think we could have upgraded in the back row.

There is lots of time between now and next season. Lots of things happen will be happening during the off season.
