Off contract options

Thornborough92

Darius Boyd
i know we are all aware of the higher profile guys we are chasing in wighton, ah mau, pangai jnr and Glasby but We need to make quite a few depth signings to fill out our roster for 2019 (long while away I know) but there are quite a few solid options who won’t break the bank off contract at the end of this year. I’ve compiled a list of potential guys who I believe would improve our overall squad and give us some serious competition for spots. Most guys on the list are props and centre/wingers but I believe if we don’t resign brock lamb we will need a solid back up half also.
Jamayne isaako
Tom opacic
Shannon Boyd
Max king
Brenko lee
Jackson Hastings (back up half)
Kelepi tanginoa
Ken maumalo
Nathan Davis
Suaia matagi
Peni terepo
Hymel hunt
Mark nicholls
sauaso sue
Kev naiqama

Off that list I think we could take 2 props as well as most likely one of ah mau glasby and tpj and I also wouldn’t mind getting 3 backs to build depth and make it a fight for spots. Most of the blokes on that list are better options then what we’ve got sitting in reserves and would probably knock sio, Ross out of first grade and potentially Moga once/if he returns from acl surgery

Well Hastings looks to be on the outter and could be off loaded very soon. Not sure id want him tho?

Heard he’s a bit of a wanchor haha, so I’m sure Pearce guerra skd have their opinions of him already. But he’s a solid option in my opinion if you take the off field attitude out of it

Yeah, Hastings needs a bit of time to grow up. He's probably better off at a club like the Storm.

Wonder if Naiqama would be tempted to come back? He's really stepped up the last couple of seasons and would be an awesome signing.

If his being hunted from a club where the head coach is a close family friend probably best give a miss lol.

Have to wonder what he's like as a person. The media made it out to sound like Munster was a whackjob too, but he seems to be alright now & probably was just a bloke who loves a drink. Hastings seems like the real deal though, exiled from the Roosters because he didn't get along with the players & apparently now the entire Manly playing group has had enough of him. It's a unique situation because there are plenty of testosterone filled w&nkers in the NRL, but they all seem to get on with it fine. For an entire club to want him gone, for the second time would be quite the strange occurrence.

He apprently is a disrespectful like c*#t Brown won’t want him as it doesn’t fit our “culture” is def take kevvy back

The two that jump out on that list are Boyd and Naiqami, why did he leave, no offer or not wanted, certainly in good form last season, World Cup and this season.

Kev spent years in reserve grade for us and had a couple of years in under 20s as well.
Probably 5 or 6 years in all, and never cracked a regular spot in firstgrade.
To be fair, he had the worst hands ever as a young guy. In under 20s he would have scored 40 tries a year if he caught all the passes thrown to him.
He got better over time, but right till he started playing for Fiji he had pretty bad hands.
Playing for Fiji was the making of him. He got to play spine positions and take responsibility for his poor hands, and he learnt how to hold onto the ball.

Blame ol’ little head for getting rid of him, another classy move seeing as Kev was a solid fill-in from 2012-13. Didn’t have the greatest of starts at the Tigers but is showing some real brilliance again so far this year.

No to Matagi at 5'10" and 107kg same with Terepo at 106 kg also no to Sue at 105 kg not the monsters we need , Don't really know much about Davis and hunt but they are both big backs so if they play ok and are cheap why not ...

I remember Kev having shocking hands too and if i remember right he missed a lot of tackles also but he was bloody fast ...Did'nt we want to keep him when we got rid of his brother but he got a better offer Billy ...

Wayne voluntarily let him go because he wouldn't be getting a start over McManus and a 500k Uate and said he deserved a shot at firsts somewhere else. In hindsight he would've been a reliable long term back for us on peanuts.... Oh well.

Cuthbertson was the one that really grinded my gears, can't believe we didn't keep him because it was looking like he was finally playing consistently for the first time of his career. Such a waste of talent for the SL.
