Boyd Cordner

Your right mate but back in the 80's people still turned a blind eye to domestic violence, and other bad crap on the drink, post that its unacceptable.

Speaking of DV there is a Knights legend that had a blind eye turned when he did such acts.

Would still get away with it today if the victim doesn't speak up and clubs will happily turn a blind eye to it still if it's a high class player and there is no media attention put on them.

And then when a player is punted from a club for these acts, prior to the NRL taking action etc, other clubs are lining up to sign them, after an appropriate settling time.

It would make sense to introduce some mechanism that sours clubs from snapping up players released on behavioral grounds, particularly repeat offenders.

Say an in-demand player on 500k is released for a breach there's little to stop a rival club snapping them up the next day to play the very next round. Obvious exceptions are for serious offences which see the NRL revoke their registration.

If said player was resigned by a rival for 500k, a salary cap penalty of for example 50% of their contract is applied (ie: it costs the club 750k of their cap).
In turn, the rival club might reduce their offer to that player to bring the cost to their salary cap back in line with their market value.

The NRL could also make these players ineligible for TPA's for the duration of the original contract.

Clubs would be more hesitant to sign players with disciplinary problems and players may feel the financial penalties of moving to a new club are a deterrent to playing up.

Just a thought.

Fox Sports is reporting that Boyd Cordner is expecting to ink a 3 year/800-850k extension with the Roosters

Thats wayy too much for a player that runs a good line every now and again... Forwards have come a long way in recent years..

Cordiner is one of the first players picked for the Kangaroo's a very good player BUT imo we would be better off spending the money on 1 or 2 Big Bad Nasty Props , especially for next year and beyond ...

Haha i love a psychopath type player. Barnett has an agro streak in him, one of the many reasons he fits the middle of the park so well

But from the look of him, I'd say his body type will restrict him to look the way does now, for good. Even if he put on 5kgs of muscle he'd look almost no different

NickWPearce- you are a tough marker , Boyd is lucky you aren’t a selector for Blues or Auz.
I think if you look harder he does abit more than run lines

I’m a huge Cordner fan. When healthy, I think he’s the best second rower in the game, slightly ahead of Gillett and Graham.

That’s big money but, especially if his body is showing signs of breaking down.

Why would we want him here Barge?

We absolutely wallow in the filth of wooden spooners and negativity so why anything positive?
