That's his 23rd test century and it has taken 259 balls He draws equal with Justin Langer for most test centuries by Aussie batsmen

I have come to the conclusion that he is not human btw

Credit to Mitch Marsh too, He only has 22 runs but has faced 142 balls and has been an absolute rock

There are 24 overs left and we are 4/250 with a lead of 86 so unless there is an almighty collapse or Smith has a brain fart and declares this will be a draw

You just have to hope he makes a mistake, everything the Poms have tried has failed.

As Michael Slater said Smith is the modern Bradman. Smith will end up being one of the all time greats of the game. We are privileged to watch him bat.

Have proper pitches instead of the roads they play on these days.

Cricket is such a boring sport now. Gone downhill dramatically in the last 5 years.

We can thank our Victorian code rivals for this. Lifeless drop in pitches on nearly all Australian grounds so they can run around like headless chooks playing their haemorrhoid of a sport.

Smith hasn't just scored centuries on flat pitches though

He averages 53.94 away from home and has centuries in England (3), South Africa (1), The West Indies (1), New Zealand (1), Sri Lanka (1) and India (3)

A couple of those were flat but most weren't including the huge turners in the sub-continent

I agree though, These drop ins aren't good for the game
 
Smith struggles with the sideways movement of seamers. Always has because of his unique footwork. Drop in pitches along with other reasons why pitches around the world that are roads has covered up this flaw significantly over the last few years.

Also the standard of players has dropped as well. Next to no world class pace bowlers around when only a few years ago every side had atleast one.

Quality batsmen but no way near the elite in my opinion.

Even if what you say was true Smith is well ahead of all the others batting on same pitches and conditions.

Like I said in my opinion the quality of play has gone down hill fast.

You only need to look at the top 10 ranked all rounders in the world to notice that. Some of them are deadset grade cricketers let alone being the top echelon of current all rounders.
 
The quality of bowlers is still good, not as good as the late 80’s to mid 90’s but there has never been so many great quicks in world cricket at any time in Test history to match that golden era.

Guys like Steyn, Rabada, Anderson, Hazlewood, Starc and Boult are all World Class bowlers who’d standout in any era.

The crux of the issue is your other point about the dead lifeless roads that are being produced. An attack of Ambrose, Akram and Donald couldn’t produce anything on that piece of **** in Melbourne. It’s not exclusive to Australia but we are leading the way in this regard sadly.
