Official: Knights sign Kalyn Ponga on a 4 year deal

None in the last 5yrs.

Atm Milf is it i think?

Latrel Mitchell, RTS and Cameron Munster were all teenagers and played most of their first season in FG at fullback

The idea that 'he simply cant handle it' because he is a teenager is an insult to his talent imo

I think he'll go great in the deep end. Sure he'll screw some stuff up and look terribly incomplete at times, but there's no doubt the kid will put on a show with the ball in hand

And I disagree with this narrative that newy supporters will eat him alive. I mean c'mon, haha, a good portion of us were relatively satisfied with 2016 haha

No they didnt!!! Less then half there games infact.

And mate i agree Ponga is a tallent, in a team that can hide him a bit he will at some point shine.
It would be utterly disapointing to see him thrown into the fulltime position here in 2017 as we dont have the right guys around him just yet to protect him.
2018 mite be different and i really hope so cause i know he will be ready to fire with the right support

Shannon Boyd
Klemmer
Junior Paulo
Dan Saifiti
Napa
Zane Musgrove
Jake turbo
Just to name a few.
All have one thingbin common... big humans!

I said started at fullback..... milf i forgot so give u that.... Moylan?

Tom turbo is mostly on the wing and slowly been moved to fullback as should be the case with Ponga
Same as with RTS
and again with old mate from souths and Holmes
Shannon Boyd debuted at 21. Musgrove played a few games but hardly endured the weekly grind of NRL. Jake Turbo definitely wouldn't call a big human as far as props go. Quality player, though

Tom Turbo played most of the year at fullback and clearly showed he is head and shoulders Manly's best option there. Stewart will be on the wing next year or will retire.

Moylan was a bit of a late bloomer.

Boyd was 21 u ar right! Musgrove will be 20 next yr still and will get plenty of nrl games

Jake turbo isnt huge but at 6'1 110kg he aint small either

I think you need to calm down a bit about Musgrove, he only played 6 games. Did you watch all his games or did you only watch the game where him & the Saifitis had a grudge match? If you saw all his games then fair enough if you rate him highly. But even if you have, you can't say he's in the same category as the others at this point, not with only 6 games.

Come round 1 2017 Ponga could slip in anywhere in the backline and look good with the ball in hand. that's the difference between him and other previous mentioned youths touted as having big potential--he is already fully capable

Of course FG requires a full rounded game, and its fair to assume that with time and training a kid of his talent and witt should be, at least, competent

Good to see you back after your 1 year haitus due to the Cowboys winning haha

Ive watched him through out his 20s and with the bears in cup.

His the same age as the Saifiti twins and imo one of the most aggressive young props coming into the nrl.

I got raps on him with rep duties in the future!

I tend to agree with you his a monster, oh though the biggest challenge for him and the twins is backing up that potential not letting it get to their heads.

Like willie mason and others have done

Very true, also once ur on the radar people tend to watch some tap of u.

Ill be happy if the twins can match the impact of 2016 bettering it will be a huge task

I remember watching the young bulldogs pack destroy teams in the early 2000's if it wasn't for cheating the cap and off field scandals they would've won more then just the one comp.

The twins and musgrove remind me a bit of vintage willie mason

@cowboysman have to say surely ponga would be ur better option atm cootes been woeful this year and last no where near where he should be for opposition kicks and suspect hands.

This year? Not even a game and a half into the season. Obvious tactical play by Green to have Coote up in the line. He hasn't done it before until now. Bennett has got one over Green right now.

Also has some of the best hands in the game for a fullback. People with short memories and all...
