2010/11 Summer of Cricket

I have a V500 Master Blaster ... bought it in Aus in 2002 and it's a pretty awesome bat, I should get a new one, but I love this one too much and I've scored so many runs with it ... and I still find bits of the middle I didn't know it had.

Mozza I must be the opposite of you, I once scored a 50 with only one four haha ... ended up on 69 not out and ended up with two boundaries.

I usually bat at number 7, i'm like Mozza, I lose concentration easily and just want to hit boundaries. Highest score for me is 33.

I more of a bowler, only got 1-13 on the weekend though.

I once scored a 53* with about 8 fours and a six by scoring every single run on the legside

not my fault they bowled long hops all day

I got 30 with seven fours and two singles once haha.

Fastest outfield ever.

Have we got any bowlers here?

I'm a first change/opening bowler. Had to play a NSW state opening bowler last weekend, glad I didn't bat against him, heaps scary.

What's everyone's best figures? My best is 6 for 14, I have never got a hattrick before, would love to get one.

5-1 off 4.5 overs, and the one run was a deliberate legside wide going for the trick stumping. From memory me and the guy at the other end came on when they were 1 down, and between us we took about 8-14 or somthing. Had an amazing year with the ball that season, took 26 wickets at an average of a tick under 5. Took out the U/14A district bowling award too

Use a Grey Nicolls predator 'superstrike' myself. Had it coming on 5 years now and still love it. Averaged 26 last year, mainly because i open so its either make a few or get out for not much. Mind you that average also got boosted by a 89* aswell haha, if not for that it coulda been ugly.

Awesome game tonight, loved how Haydos bowled the last over and got a wicket in the last ball!

Brad Hodge was simply amazing, how he does not get selected in the limited overs fixtures is beyond me. He was brilliant, a mix of class and some powerhouse stroke play got him there, to be fair he was let off the hook a few times but he made them pay for it!

Matthew Hayden came to my school today!!!

I bowled to him, got an autograph and a photo! Plus I got on the Canberra news!

I spose I should mention I got a new bat while in Aus ... Slazenger Oz Blade Ultimate ... last year's model so it was on special, but it's the same bat Michael clark uses.

Now I too, can bat just like Michael Clark does!!! :D haha

Rumour has it that Clarkey's got a poster of you on his bedroom wall - "My batting hero!"

I went to the NSW vs Victoria one dayer at the SCG last night. It was great to be at. I sat up in the Ladies Pavilion.

Guys I need some advice on purchasing a new bat.

My mate got his GM Icon from Rebel Sport and it has cracked a few times. He claims that it is because the bat is from Rebel Sport. I am looking at a bat that is at Rebel and Greg Chappell Cricket Centre. The bat is cheaper at Rebel but I am worried that my mate is right and if I get it from there it will crack easily. The bat does, however, have Fiberglass tape on the face, if you believe that will make a difference.

So do you believe that if I get the bat at Rebel it will be of poor quality or is that just my mate being frustrated with his own bat.

Because the way I saw it, the bats are made by the same company, so how could it be any different?

I got my English Willow Kookaburra Ice from Rebel sport at the start of 2008. I paid $320 or it and it has not cracked yet, still comes off the middle beautifully. Your mate sounds like he hasn't taken care of his very bat very well, I spent one week knocking in and oiling a lot and then put the fibre glass covering on, has not shown any signs of cracking yet!

It is all about how well you take care of it to how long it lasts. :)

Yeah I think that it was his own fault for not taking a lot of care of his bat. He did tell me that he had forgotten to oil it during the off season.

I don't oil mine during footy season and it still hasn't got any faults. However, I do reccomend oiling it before the first game back if you use that tactic. What sort of willow was his bat made from?
