The season is over for us but im already looking forward to next year. With a good off season of traing and recruiting i think we will have a really strong team.
What team would you guys hope to see run out round one next year?
Remember Moga and Griff won't be ready.

Id like to see Ponga either 1 or 6 with a top line recruit in the other position and Watson to 14. But if we dont get one play Watson there and Buhrer to 14.

    1.Ponga/Watson/ new recruit (eg.Holmes)
    2. Lee
    3. Sione
    4. Ramien
    5. Skd
    6. Ponga/Watson new recruit (eg. Maloney)
    7. Pearce
    8. TPJ/Klemmer
    9. Levi
    10 D.Saf
    11. Fitz
    12. Guerra
    13. Glasby

    14. Watson/Buhrer
    15. Adden Founua-Blake
    16. Ese- come on at the 20mins and play 60.

We'll still have a few more signings to come in the forwards you'd think, so I think a few players there will be far from a sure thing.

Well that was always the plan originally & the fact that Sione was going shocking at centre only helped. With Moga's ACL, Sione might find himself in the centres again, so at this point we might as well just scrap the idea of Sione training for one single position every pre-season when he only gets moved anyway due to circumstance.

He's not a very good centre but could be an OK back rower

Really need TPJ and another 2 middle forwards

    Billy, I agree with you.

Earlier in the season I was critical of the way Sione continually collapsed the D line outside in and we were always left short on the outside edge, opposition teams knew this and were garrenteed easy points.

Of late he has been more selective , still not iron clad but getting better and will certainly be needed to start in centres in 2019 while/ if Moga finds his rythem, so why train him at 2nd row at all let alone in the preseason.

He will then become a complete bench utility after the transition and run into the finals.

I found a twitter post from Toohey interesting.

Someone asked about What is stopping the Napa signing, mentions that Rooster want TPJ and his price is an issue and he never wanted Newcastle in the first place etc which makes sense.

Someone also asked about if there would be room for Klemmer and he says yes.

Might be over reading it but he didn’t shut the Klemmer idea down like the Napa.

Bulldogs are going well without him too, so they will definitely be having a hard think about it.

Surely Moga will ok for Round 1? It’ll of been 11 months since he did the knee.

For our sake I hope he is , for his sake I hope they don’t rush him back, either way if you plan for the worst case you aren’t surprised by the result

He probably should be right to go by the trials, though id expect him to earn a call up from cup over a walk up start.

I think i read one of Tony Ayoub,s talks and he said Moga is tracking for a return around week 4. I could be wrong though.

these injuries would take 12 months to fully recover usually? And they wouldnt be rushing him in after what. his 3rd or 4th?

At this stage my team for start 2019 and leaving Moga and Griff out due to injury/recovery would be:-
    1 Ponga
    2 SKD
    3 Sione
    4 Ramien
    5 Lee
    6 Watson
    7 Pearce
    8 Esee
    9 Levi
    10 DanS
    11 Fitz
    12 Guerra
    13 Glasby
14 Buhrer (need him at least till Griff is back)
15 Barnett (until Moga is ok then Sione)
    16 JSaf
    17 Saulo
It's a good side but better if we had two big props replacing 16 & 17 and a versatile half/hooker replacing 14 which in turn gives us depth missing this year.

There is no way Moga should be in the round 1 side. After his 4th full knee reco he really does need to spend half the season in reserves to build up confidence and match fitness.
