We need to sign players that would walk into any team, currently we only have Pearce and Ponga. Knights need to go hard at signing these four Norman, Klemmer, Napa and Taupau

    1 Ponga
    2 SKD
    3 Ramien
    4 Moga
    5 Lee
    6 Norman
    7 Pearce
    8 Napa
    9 Griffin /Levi
    10 Klemmer
    11 Taupau
    12 Guerra
    13 Glasby
    14 Watson
    15 Esee
    16 Dan/Jacob/Fitzgibbon
    17 Sione/Barnett/Buhrer/Stone/Lamb/Ross

A lot of competition for spots and depth for injuries

We’re not Brisbane? We’re not allowed to flagrantly cheat the salary cap with no consequences.

I'd take Dan and most definitely Ese over Napa.

This is the team I would like to see most in 2019 being realistic on what we have, could easily pick up:

    1. Ponga
    2. Lee
    3. Moga
    4. Ramien
    5. SKD
    6. Watson
    7. Pearce
    8. Ese Ese
    9. Levi
    10. Dsaf
    11. Fitz
    12. Guerra
    13. Glasby
    14. Pythian
    15. Sione
    16. Barnett
    17. JSaf

Would like at least one more big quality prop but seems unlikely. Would also like to see a decent outside back picked up to take Lee’s place and create more competition.

Ha ha ha. The intent is I hope we could snag a better talent before start of next season. Otherwise he’ll do.

I think even without another signing next year's team barring injury looks okay. We just need to work hard on line speed and edge defence and I think we are a top 8 contender next year

Phythian? That won’t happen (although I could be surprised).

IMO, Sione in the 14 and JJ in the 15, if he plays well enough this year for a longer contract. Haven’t seen much of him, but he just seems hungry for it. If we can’t pick up a top line prop to replace him, then I’d be happy with him being selected.

I don't know why it isn't being mentioned, but we desperately need to sign a hooker for next season.
With Griffin likely to miss half of next season our current number of firstgrade hookers is 1, and he has a dodgy back.
Chris Randall is our starting hooker in reserve grade - a guy the commentators describe as looking nothing like a footballer with a "Cam Smith" accountants build. He has very impressive stats for a guy who is basically a park footballer who did no elite juniors and has never done a fulltime pre season.
Hazard has not been that impressive in his few games between injuries.
Tom Starling is pound for pound the best footballer at the club - but he hasn't got many pounds and Brown doesn't seem too much of a fan.

Honestly, Starling is our only real back up for next year.

Difficult situation, spend money on a potential long term, 3yrs, hooker and Griff comes back strong suddenly 2020 3+ hookers, find a mature hooker with a year or two left and Griff don't come back then back to looking. I'm for the mature short term hooker so if Griff comes back ok, if not our potential young u20 hookers Starling, Huth etc might be ready if not back to drawing board. But if a certain NSW SOO hooker came available ignore all of the above.

Clydesdale is at Maitland if we need a fill in.

Though id rather use a junior tbh.

It's not that difficult. Buy the best option you can possible. If a success & Griffin came back well too, then that just means we have a stronger roster. No guarantees Griffin will be the same or even come back at all, we can't sit around waiting for him, we need to start building the best roster we can now, especially in these precious years we have Pearce.

A legitimate contender? David Klemmer would certainly help!

I think we give the hooker in reserves a go at least. Randall.

Randall is average, we don't need him. Next year at the beginning we will still have Levi, and he can interchange with a few different options, Buhrer, Watson etc.

Griffin will be back late in the year and can interchange with Levi.

As Billy said, we need another hooker to cover for injuries. Given the extent of Griffin's injury, he may not be able to play again. If Levi is injured, we may not have a decent hooker.

Don't waste big money on a hooker we have levi and if need be Watson to hooker Ponga to 5/8 and Meaney to Fullback for the rest of the season ..Hopefully Griffin back all good and a bit of training at hooker for Sione just to see if he can handle it I think he would , he cant run up out of the line and miss at hooker .
That way he could take Buhrer's spot on the bench .

I think it is an excellent idea for Sione to have some training at hooker. If he can play as a backup hooker, it help the balance of the team.
