Let me guess what you do with that style of yours 
Probably way off but just let me haha.
You use a lasso tool and draw it around where the focus is in the banner. You then do Select Inverse than fill it with black.
And I'm guessing with all the dots you either use a small brush or just use star stocks.
Obviously there's a lot more that goes on but tell me if my predictions had anything to do with how you did the Roy and the soccer guy
