The NRL has paid tribute to former Australian Test player Peter Diversi, who passed away on Monday.

Mr Diversi was the uncle of Parramatta, New South Wales and Australian legend, Ray Price and played two Tests for Australia in 1954-55.

He also played for New South Wales between 1952-56, as well as North Sydney (1952-55) and later, Manly-Warringah (1958-62), before finishing his career at Kurri-Kurri, in the Newcastle competition.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg paid tribute to Mr Diversi, saying that rugby league had lost another loyal servant.

"Peter loved the game and from all reports, was a feared defender throughout the 50's and into the 60's," Mr Greenberg said.

"On behalf of the rugby league community, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Peter's family and friends."

Peter was a hard, hard man.

From memory he was at Kurri when Henry Holloway was captain coach of the Tahs and theyb were good mates off the field.
