Manly were just terrible!! If Pearce was playing I’d have us 20+! But still being optimistic with a 13+, Lamb to show us his better side as the lead half (he says with fingers crossed!!)

Mystic Millie going for 2 in a row but will only commit to a Knights win. Not too sure on Margin this week.

Don't put too much pressure on her at this stage.

By the way what is her early pick for the Melbourne Cup whilst the odds are huge on any possible starter.

Defo Pinot but also like Marmelo for a place. After picking the Stakes yesterday she’s confident on this.

Cogger 7 and Watson 6 but I do not know if Watson will pass a fitness test. From experience shoulders are fair buggers to get over so I trust Browny will wait until he is 100% recovered.

I’ve not watched much of Cogger aside from a couple of games the other year and last week. He’s more of a halfback than Lamb right? Pretty sure Lamb was his 6 in the younger grades.

I thought Lamb was the 7 when they played together in lower grades. I'd say the halves will be Cogger and Watson. Brown said Watson is back next week so I assume they are confident he will be right, otherwise they would normally say he needs to pass a fitness test.

Reading in to what Brown said at the presser, Brown said Watson will be back for them I am guessing he will play him straight back to 1st grade so the decision then is who partners him. I can't see Brown changing Buhrers role so I think he will go with Cogs.

Brown said the other day that Coggs has had a great preseason, which is true. He has been fully fit for the first time in a few years and our opposed sessions meant Coggs lined up against Pearce in game after game, and while it's fair to say that Pearce wasn't putting in his best effort in the opposed sessions, Coggs was matching him in most games, which is pretty solid form for a young guy.
He has been a bit hot and cold in reserve grade, but so has the whole side.
He should be ready to show us his best this week.

In the lower grades and for NSW and Australian schoolboys Coggs was always the hard working 7 while Lamb was always the brains of the outfit. Coggs would do most of the work while Lamb schemed away, looking for a chance to put on a set play and a try assist.
The ball would go to Coggs most time, but when Lamb called for it, he got it, because he had a plan that would probably work.

Well i'd pick them both and let them both play their natural games - but Brown has no interest in that.
Brown has made it very clear that he wants to base our team around a dynamic, running 5/8, which is the opposite to Lamb's natural game. He has changed the way Lamb plays, and Lamb has done very well trying to adapt to a different style, but it isn't who he is.

I think Brown will go with Cogger and Watson, but I don't think Watson will be the 5/8 he wants him to be. As I've said before, Ponga is the only guy on our books with the potential to be the 5/8 that Brown wants (dynamic, match winning, running 5/8)

Ponga plays as our second playmaker anyway, so if Brown wants his 6 to be third in line, then Watson was doing a reasonable job. All you can ask from a third playmaker is to not get in the way & take his chances when needed.

I know it's been said before and rejected and will almost certainly not happen anytime soon, but it'd be interesting to see Watson and Ponga swap positions at some stage. Watson is no slouch and definitely more of a fullback than 5/8, while Ponga has the ball-playing ability and x-factor.

The main problem would be the additional defensive load which Ponga doesn't need at this point. If the season falls apart with Pearce sidelined, not that I'm expecting the wheels to fall off completely, maybe it's an option that'll get some more consideration.

Ponga plays 5/8th in attack. No idea why so many want to put a different number on his jersey and have him make more tackles when he's in the top 3 fullbacks in the game after a quarter of the season.

Summed up nicely. Lamb was asked to do it and crapped the bed. Cogger did a neat job so play on young man.

I feel the bounce back on this week and manly will towel us up as we seem to play teams into form.

    Hopefully I am horribly wrong.

Teams losing a key player or coach often pull one out of the fire too though.

I can't remember the year or team we played, but one season that Joey got taken out long-term we stepped up with a major upset.

Don't be surprised if we band together and heap more misery on Manly.
